Something Different (Retail)

(This review was written on November 4, 2017) Stopped in during the Oyster Festival Saturday evening. Enjoyed a slice of Buttermilk Milk Pie. All I can say is I applied for early retirement for my tastebuds! The crust was flaky, not crumbly. The buttermilk filling was smooth and flavorful but not at all sweet and did not lose any of the freshness of the Pie. Same with the Pecan Pie. Normally, I cannot eat it for it is always too sweet. Too bad I had only one slice in our hotel or I would've had a Buttermilk AND a Pecan Pie!

The Buttered Pecan & Vanilla Ice cream was beyond delicious. I jumped off no-dessert wagon and shot the horses!

Not only was the food just simply delightful, the staff was so accommodating and pleasant and since this was our first visit, we were so impressed with EVERYTHING!

When traveling down Rt 17 on your way to Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk/VB, Portsmouth metropolitan areas, Something Different has to be a stop on your journey to your southern destinations!

We will be back there soon where we can try a few things from the menu.

This place is delicious! Crab cakes and tri tips were amazing! Also the ice cream was some of the best I've ever eaten. If you're near here, stop. It's worth it.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and local history of the entrepreneurial family that established the restaurant. Friendly staff and excellent coffee. Special blueberry pancakes were delicious 😋

Great food and great service. We had a party of 10 and we were seated and served quickly . Everyone's food tasted great.

Only attitude from every single person in there. I feel they treat us different due to our appearance.( Construction) instead of having a phat wallet and dressing with a suit. Will not eat there again even thought to record our conversation. Don't sound like it would happen

Terrific, superb, absolutely delicious barbecue. We stopped on our way to the beach and bought pulled pork sandwiches at this charming old country store-style restaurant. The best sauce we've ever had. Can't say we liked the buns, however.

Great selection of specialty sodas and imported beers, as well.

It's a little hard to find-- it seems like you've taken a wrong turn down a green, residential backwood highway, but keep going and you can't miss it.

Best restaurant I've been to in a while! The food is amazing it is pure comfort food! And the atmosphere is friendly and fun- also there is an awesome gift shop with lots of goodies to take home! Would recommend to anyone!

Love the ambiance, the smells, the beer selection, the BBQ...that you can find a paleo place this close to our vacation spot? Winning!!

Nice atmosphere frendly people. A Decent Menu variety. Was overall satisfied with the food, but highly recommend the Bread pudding or chocolate pie..

They are the rudest people ever. And they continue to get my order wrong. I took my order back and they were so rude when they gave me my correct order. Not a single "I'm so sorry for your inconvenience" or anything. I would not refer anyone to this restaurant. By the way, a Philly Cheese Steak is suppose to come on a roll not a hamburger bun. Go get cultured.
