I grew up visiting this iconic Roanoke bar. The beer was always cold, and I saw many live music shows there. I would even hit the lunch buffet while working for a very reasonably priced and tasty meal occasionally. Fast forward to now. In this day and age, allowing smoking anywhere and any time, you are going to attract one crowd, and it's simply one most people just don't care to be around. On a recent visit my wife and I were literally the only two people not smoking, both inside and out. Listen, I grew up in bars where the smoke was so thick it banked down off the ceiling, but in 2023 I'm not sure how that is a viable business plan. The place now just seems tired and very run down. And if you're a non smoker, you will have a headache, and feel the need for a shower immediately as you enter the building. Even dive bars need to progress with the times, and The Coffee Pot simply has not. Maybe an old smoker's crowd can keep it going, but for most people these days, and including myself, it's just not a fun place to spend your time or money.

It's a cool old dive bar that's one of the few places open late at night. You'll not have to worry much about trouble as the local cops love to hang arround brambleton and patrol brambleton at 2am.

Cheap beer, iffy mixed drinks, Several pool tables for under $2 per game and occasional live music and other shows. Low covers are charged for shows. Plenty of room for groups and small gatherings. Haven't tried their food yet. Every time I visit I reek of smoke when I leave as smoking has always been permitted and it's part of the architecture at this point.

Amazing for live venue. Great karaoke and DJ in Brian. Nicki is a great bartender as well. Great spot to have fun and socialize. I highly recommend.

If you like historic roadside dive bars this is your place!
There's the bar area and the main dining area complete with a stage for live bands.
There's also a back room that can be reserved for special events.
I once saw a group playing (I think) Dungeons & Dragons on several different tables.
Weird at times, always homey, some think it's sketchy but just be a good human and you'll be fine.

The Coffee Pot is a Roanoke institution!

I have been to the 'Pot 100s of times over the years and I always feel welcome every time I step through the door.

They have been supporting live local music for decades and even to this day they have a band almost every weekend. You are not part of the Roanoke Valley scene unless you have played at The Pot!

I have met friends here, jammed here and played dozens of shows on that fabled stage.

As well as beverages, they have a great kitchen and a first class menu. Reasonably priced and there is often a lunch time buffet.

Parking can be a challenge at peak times though, so arrive early. Also the main bar allows smoking so that may or may not be a problem for you.

This is the definition of a roadside dive and I mean that in a good way! We came in late afternoon for a quick bite to eat. We ate our food (burger, sandwiches and fries, all pretty good) as we listened to Katie talking and joking with 3 or 4 regulars sitting at the bar while another woman sat playing video poker and smoking. Several obscure Led Zeppelin songs played overhead. Katie was very friendly and we had a good time talking to her. Love the coffee pot attached to the building. This would be a fantastic place to come watch local bands and throw back a few beers (or jello shots)!

This place sucks! 2 employees charging different cover prices. No good explanation , no offer to remedy.

This fine establishment also allows smoking inside - you will smell of cigarettes and regret for at least 2 weeks!

Never again!

Iconic. Historic. Food is typical bar food, but still decent. Music is spotty at this point. Occasionally decent local music is available, mostly just karaoke at this point. Beer selection is great if you like and beer... For the rest of us you'll need to pre game!

Nikki is the truth as a bartender. She put together a pretty awesome ugly Christmas sweater party. Had a great time. Will go back for sure.
