Lamplighter Coffee Roasters - Addison St

Definitely not a coffee drinker, but I love the smell of it! I bought some Lamplighter beans for my dad and he loved every cup. The food I ordered during the same trip was delicious and the atmosphere was great. It can’t get much better than eating outside on a perfectly sunny day!

The coffee was great. Also had one of their sandwiches and it was pretty good as well. The service wasn't that great. I got blown off several times by several different staff members when I tried to order. Definitely felt like I was inconveniencing them. I heard great things about the coffee, so I didn't let the services dissuade me. I'll check it out again, just to see if the service was off just for my visit.

Great place for breakfast sandwiches and hot beverages. I had the Chai latte which is a "real" one, unlike Starbucks. The Lox bagel was really good and my husband had a bagel with hummus which was excellent. The outside area is nice with big picnic tables and smaller cafe tables.

This coffee shop is just absolutely great. The coffee is very high quality and is probably some of the best coffee I’ve had. The shop is also pretty cool and has a very chill vibe. Would certainly recommend and revisit as well.

I enjoy going to this cafe. Their drinks and food are very good and it's a cool, hip place to hang out. One question though- Can Lamplighter explain the rationale behind the reduced hours at a time of year when people like to hang out and enjoy themselves in the evening at a place like Lamplighter? I could understand reduced hours in the winter when it's cold and dark in the evening and no one wants to go out, but closing at 5:00p in the summer? Seems odd to me.

I ordered a hot chocolate and it was delicious with good portion. Noticed they have a lot of varieties with tofu. If you are a tofu lover, gotta give it a try. Just wish there are more inside space for a cold winter weather.

The food service is terrible. I have ordered food here on several occasions and each time something is incorrect about the order. I always order to go, and unfortunately do not notice the issue until I have arrived at my destination. I am not someone who is quick to judge and usually give the benefit of the doubt which I why I continue to go back. Today was it for me, though. I ordered to go, got home, and the order was complete wrong. Nothing about it was something that I had actually ordered. To make matters worse, the sandwiches I received were much less expensive than the ones I paid for. Totally over it at this point. Will not return.

Chill hipster place for brunch, you can seeand meet some really cool people there.

Food is wonderful, love how they add their unique twist to their sandwich. Coffees are also excellent.

Took a star off for the flies outside, could do better to control it. Or maybe just leave it as is to let the camp vibe stay. :)

Love the outdoor seating. The Thai iced coffee is almost just as you would get it in Thailand, and I especially love the maple Sriracha glazed sausage breakfast sandwich. Parking can be scarce, but we've never had too much of an issue when coming on weekend mornings.

There are so many rad coffee options in RVA, why should you chose Lamplighter?

1. Cool atmosphere and chill place with a surprising amount of available parking and street parking.

2. Staff are awesome! don't be intimidated by all the tattoos and rad but occasionally illegible band shirts, they're super helpful and nice and (hypothetically) don't put your cap on your coffee all the way and accidentally burn the **** out of your hand, they'll take care of you!

3. People bring their dogs and puppies. If you have a dog and/or puppy and want to bring them somewhere, what better place than a place people bring them. and also coffee!

Plus, one of the cool aforementioned people who works here loves dogs more than people. If you bring a dog, he'll go out of his way to pet your dog and give them treats because they deserve it & honestly it warms my heart every time.

4. Food. It's exactly what you'd expect from such a quality establishment = quality. Vegetarian and vegan options are also aplenty.

5. It's the best coffee in Richmond.

I'm biased, because I buy only their beans to hand grind back home so I can fuel myself to motivate me to wake up and go to Lamplighter for 2nd coffee. The. Best.
