Mudhouse Coffee Crozet

I gave this Mudhouse two shots before writing a review. The atmosphere is cool and laid back. Plenty of space. Coffee is decent, however over priced. The reason I took two stars off is because of the rude staff. On both occasions I had to greet them and interrupt coworker conversation. Five minutes later after I sat down, what I assume to be a ruglar walked in, and they were immediately attentive. So I guess if you go regularly they’ll greet you like they’re happy for your tip.

Their coffee is really good. Not bland, tastes great even with added flavors. Their baked goods are just as excellent. I got a banana cake slice that tasted too good to come from a coffee shop.

Love this place. Chill, relaxed, but very conducive for exceptional caffeination purposes. Nilsson is incredible. Always friendly, no matter how busy they get, and able to give such exceptional recommendations that are outside of the box and so good. Like the Vanilla honey lavender latte! Thank you!!

Good coffee and pastries. The take home beans are worth a stop, but bring a few extra dollars with you.

This is a pleasant spacious cafe in downtown Crozet. Their coffee is excellent. They offer a selection of desserts munchies and light food which is also very good. Parking can be iffy but at times parking is fine. Well worth a visit and I will be returning.

Amazing little find. They made a mulled spice latte for me which was as cozy tasting as it sounds. The hello dollie was delicious. Plenty of big comfy chairs to hang out in with a quiet atmosphere.

Review update: I will always give a place I've loved in the past another try. I've not come in and introduced myself as the person who gave a negative review to claim my free drink, because you know... Awkward! Would anyone want to do that? But I am happy to report that the consistency of the drinks that I've ordered has been better recently. I'm increasing my review by 1 star.
I've noticed there is a lot of variation between baristas, where the quality of the drink is concerned. I'm learning who I can trust to make a drink correctly and when to stick to drip.

Today my drink was near perfection. Kudos to the Barista who made my cappuccino around 10am! Perfect espresso, well steamed milk, tasted lovely. It made me so happy because I love the Mudhouse and want to feel like I can count on the Crozet location as one of my favorite local coffee shops.

Original Review: I've been disappointed in the quality of the drinks served up here since returning to the Crozet area a month ago.
I worked here as a barista back in 2011/2012 and was trained with high expectations for both brewing espresso and properly steaming milk. That training set my expectations high for all other coffee shops I've worked at, visited, or frequented over the years.
Today I asked for my latte to be remade. I could hear that the milk wasn't steamed properly the first time, and it tasted terrible. The milk was over stretched and over steamed. The second attempt by the barista wasn't any better.

I'm really sad that I can't get the quality of latte here that I came to love so many years ago.

Today I went to the Mudhouse in Crozet and I asked to get a smoothie and they offered me a strawberry banana as the option. I said that would be fine but I would like it in my 10OZ yeti cup and they said they could do that. Then before I knew how much it cost they started marking it. The person at the cash register rang me up and the total was $7.60. $7.60 for a 10oz smoothie. I’m what world is this ok? The smoothie prices were not displayed anywhere so I was not aware of how expensive it would be. I understand that local small businesses have to make money but that much for a smoothie is ridiculous. Mudhouse seems to just raise their prices quiet frequently and I wish that they would be more clear about the cost of their non-coffee drinks. I am very upset about my transaction today and I will not be back at all. Mudhouse has lost my business forever.
