Food was great. Salsa for Salsa and chips was a bit too salty and no real taste. Drinks were okay. I'd not order drinks again.
Tamales and chimichanga was great. Our server was nice enough to give us spicy sauces, the green sauce was super delicious.
Flan was great and I highly recommend it.

Nice Mexican place if you are visiting the nearby Capitol Reef National Park.
We ordered steak fajitas, tacos and vegetable soup. The soup was way way too salty for me or my wife.
The service was fast and tentative. The margaritas were also pretty good!
Overall it is pretty decent place in a small town (you can’t ask for too much)!

Best food in town, hands down, might be some of the cheapest too - about $15 per person. This is better Mexican food than most of the places in Salt Lake area.
We tried a few of the local restaurants on our trip and this was the best. If we could do it over again, we would come here every other night. Just excellent Mexican food with some more modern twists to keep it interesting.
Small place, seems newer. Service was good. It was quiet and not very busy even on a weekend.
I got the flautaus with pork and they were above expectations. My wife got tacos with shrimp, octopus, and steak. The shrimp taco was our favorite, wouldn't order octopus again.

This place was INCREDIBLE! It is so unassuming from the outside but once you get inside, it’s obvious how much love they put into the vibe of the place. The wall has beautiful, artisan and hand crafted masks from different regions of Mexico and it was bright and inviting. The staff was extremely helpful, nice and attentive. I was so stoked to find vegan options aside from rice and beans in rural Utah! The food was fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling through Torrey on their way to capitol reef or on their way home! You won’t regret it!

Came in for a quick lunch, was absolutely delicious. Fresh chips and salsa, ordered the fish and shrimp tacos. Both were fresh with awesome pico, cabbage. Shrimp was a touch spicy! Overall a great stop and the best Mexican we've found in the area.

The absolute best breakfast burrito I have ever eaten....not even a close second.
The American breakfast was delicious, also.
This place is amazing, and I can't wait to go here next time I visit Torrey and Capital Reef.
The house made hot sauces are to-die-for....especially the "hot."
Thanks for a perfect breakfast.

Don’t let the simple exterior fool you. The new owners of Chak Balam, Ed and Karina, are rising culinary stars. Not your typical pseudo Mexican fare. Their food was authenticity prepared with fresh ingredients and attractively presented. I had 3 different tacos, each with a unique saucing and toppings. The owners and young wait staff were attentive and kept me engaged at the comfortable bar. I had an amazing Mexican drink with beer and a secret tomato based sauce. It was a lovely meal. Wishing Ed, Karina and their staff much success and recognition for what they are trying to achieve in this small town.

Wonderful Mexican food! My daughter swears by the California Burrito. My tacos were both very good. Excellent margaritas too! Best of all was the service, Afrain took very good care of us!

Very unassuming local restaurant, but you can tell this place is loved wholly. Hands down the best Mexican cuisine I have had. Period. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and everything was seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. I may have just found a new standard by which all Mexican cuisine should be judged. Will be coming back to this restaurant every time in in the area. With both vegetarian and vegan options, everyone should eat here.

I really wanted to like this place and everything was tracking really well — small town, unique space, excellent chips and salsa, and a lovely looking plate when my entree came out. However, after the first several bites I was sorely disappointed with the utter lack of flavor which was a complete shock. I ordered three enchiladas — one with chicken, pork, and steak and they were all completely bland. My other complaint is how you can pay $15 for three enchiladas and not have a side of beans or rice or both. The waiter said the enchiladas came with a “side salad” so I passed on adding a side of beans but the salad was shredded lettuce with a sprinkle of tomatoes and that’s it. The enchiladas, had I eaten all of them, would have been filling on their own but I gave up halfway through, paid the bill and drove to Loa to get Curry Pizza. The service was good, the food looked great, chips and salsa was good and the space was nice (half of the restaurant is currently under construction and it’s pretty noisy fyi) but my entree had zero taste and I mean literally zero taste.
