Unfortunately, our group had a poor experience. We had to flag down servers to get just about anything. Our food was nearly inedible. We let the server know our meat tasted as if something might be wrong with it, but they responded with we were probably expecting Taco Bell style food. We had 4 people in our group and only one person ate their food. All around it wasn’t a good experience.

Everything is so delicious!! This is the highlight of our southwest parks trip. We highly recommend it!!

Worst Mexican food I have ever had. $15 plate and I barley ate anything. Couldn’t even bring myself to pretend like it to not waste a $15 plate. The $4 separate refried beans weren’t even good, how can you mess up refried beans? Would recommend to stay away. Don’t let the good presentation pictures fool you. Days later when the charge came through the waiter gave themselves a large tip.

My Wife and I had just finished touring the Cliffs and headed back to Torrey to find something to eat. We were heading down to Hurricane, Utah for our Son’s wedding. Something to tide us over for our trip south. The choices are limited in Torrey seemed limit. We noticed a law enforcement vehicle in front of this this restaurant. It was the only vehicle in the parking lot. We figured we should check it out. Cops always seem to know the best places to find good food. We were not disappointed. Chak Balam Mexican Restaurant was awesome!!! Great service. Delicious food. Wonderful experience. We are planning on going back on our next trip through Utah. We live in SW Iowa. Well worth the long road trip.

Service was good and food was fast. Nice beer selection. Unfortunately the food was just ok. Specifically the enchiladas, nothing special, kind of mushy and most significantly….no beans or rice. Instead of the usual beans and rice there was some greens and a tomato slice? Whaaat? Not cool.

There are very few choices in dining in Torrey which must account for the stellar ratings. Food wasn't awful but my chicken burrito almost was. It was large, damp and leaking some kind of fluid. There were a couple of large chunks of chicken at the top and that was it for the meat. 90% of it consisted of rice with a few whole beans and a smear of what was possibly guacamole. Some shredded lettuce with a touch of pico de gallo came on the side. I took it apart to eat it as the damp tortilla was too gross to attempt.
The $6 fish taco was small n fell apart.
Did not see any Mexicans.
The young man at the register who took our order was friendly n helpful. Only one table at noon on Tuesday, maybe an evening place. Definitely a tourist trap.

I'm again reminded... Don't judge a book by its cover. For such a new restaurant with a sketchy-looking exterior, this place really surprised me. The food was excellent and so was the service.

What do I know about Mexican food? I previously lived in SoCal for over 25 years and ate at the best Mexican restaurants and carts at least once per week. I also have made it my mission to frequent Mexican restaurants during my travels (I'm usually disappointed). This place was among the tastiest I've been.

My wife and I had carne asada, a fish taco, and an octopus taco. The kids ate a bean & cheese burrito and a pollo quesadilla. We also had chips and guacamole. We drank homemade horchata. All of it was excellent.

The service was provided by a younger guy and what I'm guessing was his mom. They were both very friendly and accommodating. Everything came out correctly the first time.

We sat inside and the place was busy. While the exterior looks simple and worn down, the interior was slightly more upgraded. The only other downside was that they have yet to get their alcohol license, so the beer listed on the menu is not yet available.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant and encourage you not to judge it by its exterior.

Great food, staff was really friendly.
Had the enmoladas, very tasty mole.
Definitely better quality than other Mexican restaurants around the area.

Fairly mediocre place. I didn’t think the salsa was super good, and the chicken enchiladas were just okay, as well as the tacos. Michelada was good and the chimichanga was a highlight. I would come back in a pinch.
