I cannot say enough good things about this little restaurant. So deceiving from the outside, but the inside is adorable. The food is so fresh and absolute perfection. The owners are wonderful and so friendly. If you are in Capitol Reef area and in the mood for amazing Mexican food you must stop here. This restaurant is a gem.

5⭐️ based in vibes alone. We haven’t even ordered yet!
Update: We ordered and the food was excellent! Enchiladas Verdes was the winner at our table. But all three entrees were very tasty. And we consider ourselves connoisseurs.

The restaurant was packed when we arrived, but luckily, we had a reservation and we were shown right to our table. As we sat down, our server cautioned us that it would take 30-40 minutes to receive our food. We ordered guacamole, chicken & cheese enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, and more. The food was 5 stars, but it took 50 minutes to get our food. The staff sent us some free sopaipillas at the end of the meal, which was nice and they were amazing.

Best authentic fresh Mexican food I have had outside of California. Service was great. Beware this is a small dining area with limited seating. Worth the wait

What a treat to find this authentic Mexican restaurant in Torrey, Utah. We're here for 2 nights and we've already planned to return for dinner number 2. My kiddo killed the tamale platter. My partner had the emoladas and I was jealous of his plate. I had 3 tacos de lengua (special of the day) and they were good but since you pay by the taco and there are no sides, my dining companions' dinners were a better value. Still, my tacos hit the spot. We also had the jamaica agua fresca, which was delicious! It comes in a flip top bottle with a large glass of ice. Very refreshing, obviously homemade, and wonderfully not too sweet. It would be most excellent after a day of dusty hiking. Prices were reasonable.

Best Southwest/Mexican cuisine ever, and I’m from Mexico. The chicken mole is excellent! Open from 11-9 pm only. Near Coral Reef in Torrey Utah.

Wasn't exactly the 4.8 that it was rated. Really wanted to like the place but it was a no go. First walked in and the ceiling is covered in tin and the echo of screaming kids was enough to make you lose the appetite you walked in with. I will say the food came out in a decent amount of time. I had chicken fajitas. There was a lot but most of it was onions and green peppers. Not much flavor. Buddy had Carne asada. It was meh as well. Not horrible just not noteworthy. No greeting when we came in and nothing said when we left. Disappointing all the way around.

Chak Balam is a mid-priced Mexican restaurant located in Torrey which is in central Utah near Capital Reef.. My wife ordered the chicken enchilada plate and I ordered one fish taco and one octopus taco. Presentation of the plated food was excellent. The fish taco was top notch and the octopus taco was almost as good. The fish was crispy and flakey and the octopus was tender and succulent. My recomendation is to give this restaurant a try if you are in the area.

Authentic Mexican restaurant placed perfectly on our road trip to Moab.
Don’t be misled by the humble look on the outside. The food and service will delight you.

The food was very delicious and we got it very fast.
The service was ok. We ordered a diet Coke but didnt't get it. I wanted to call the worker to remind him but he was only in the restaurant when he served something, didnt't even look at the guests and went back to the kitchen, looking at his phone as fast ad possible. Another guest knocked on the kitchen door because he wanted some water but noone reacted.
