The General Public

Great meal and excellent drink menu. Caleb was our server and made some excellent suggestions too. Had the shrimp and grits with a fried egg that was perfect size and recommended by Caleb as great - and he was right. He then found out I was a bourbon guy and made an amazing smoked old fashioned. Excellent all around experience and the service was terrific too. Thank you Caleb and General Public - we will be back!

So first of all the food was not bad. Once a new waiter started coming out every time something was brought out, it became a little concerning. I think we had about 5 waiters for the whole meal. After ordering drinks, we waited and waited and for almost an hour the appetizers we ordered still haven’t even come out. Around an hour of waiting the food came out very slowly by different waiters one by one. My cousin who had ordered the “Honey Fried Chicken” did not expect it to be just plain chicken wings. Also, my uncle had ordered his meal with the side of a “Fruit Plate” which consisted of about 5 grapes and 5 raspberry’s (which we all thought was hilarious, but also very sad). Finally after everyone got the food, about 15 mins later when they were all done, I got my appetizer! (a soft pretzel). The fish and chips were brought out Twice along with a side of fries we did not order, and the meatballs were the wrong ones from what we ordered. Maybe it was just a bad day, but the overall experience was completely sad and annoying. I would not recommend going in a group because they seem like they’re not up to handle that.

I've only visited here for Sunday brunch. Admittedly, I wasn't impressed by the menu options, but after indulging, I realized everything is exceptional! The french toast is unique (thick, banana bread, no syrup needed) and "the best I've ever had" based on somebody I dined with. The crab hush puppies are a must - I have no idea how they get them so crispy; they don't skimp on the crab, and the powdered sugar adds a subtle but delicious flavor contrast. Our only issues here have been with the service: relatively slow, sometimes forgetful, under-staffed. Honestly, it hasn't taken away from the overall experiences and isn't enough to give them less than 5 stars. I'd definitely recommend The General Public for brunch and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

We stopped by a Wednesday afternoon, the place was not crowded so we had a great time. The drinks were nice and cold and the food was delicious. Coming back to enjoy the outside patio.

Great appetizers, great service. We had a waitress named Taylor and she was great. She made us feel right at home.

We popped in for some afternoon appetizers. The crab hush puppies, bacon wrapped shrimp, and baked cauliflower. The crab hush puppies were so good! Three stars because it took a very long time to receive our order and they were not busy at the time. The staff was very friendly and nice.

Great drinks. Great food. Great prices. The only thing is, the bartender needs help. Went on Sunday and she was alone and she was struggling to keep up. I've only ordered one. Tried to get another. No luck. She even looked passed me. Dropped off my ticket without saying thank you or anything. I would recommend having 2-3 bartenders on Sunday for the sake of customer service.

I was really impressed by the happy hour specials and drink selection. The emphasis appears to be placed more on quality cocktails than quality food. The food is good, but not great. The pricing is very competitive and they offer a military discount reportedly.

I was really looking forward to eating here. The restaurant and decor get 5 stars. Nice cozy environment. We made online reservations and got seated right away. The place wasn't too busy for a Sunday afternoon. Our waiter was super nice but very busy. We didn't see him much. Our food took forever to come. Food was good. 5 stars. The most disappointing thing was the bathroom. I had my baby with me and there was no changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my baby on the bathroom floor. 🤢 there was plenty of room in the handicap bathroom to install one on the wall. I was very disappointed. As trendy as this place is, guess they don't expect guest with little ones to eat here. 🙄
