My server was nice and barely tentative. Most of the servers and bartenders seemed like they didn't want to be there. Food was over priced for what you get and was disappointing. My daughter ordered a plain burger with no bells or whistles, just plain and we were charged for a bacon burger at the outrageous price of over $15! My salmon ceasar salad was nothing special and the salmon was mush and squishy. The salad hardly had any cheese on it and when I asked for pepper I was given a grinder that didn't work. I told my server when he came back to the table that pepper wasn't coming out he had an excuse and then never returned with pepper, LOL! Wasn't busy and many servers and bartenders not really caring to give a good dining experience.
The hostess seemed melancholy and distracted when we walked through the door but our server definitely tried to smile and pretend to care about our dining experience.
2 stars just because we liked the seats and ambience, another star for sympathy. Hope things get better.

Love the atmosphere of the place! Great spot to stop for a bite! I had the kung pao lettuce wraps. Super flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The sauce definitely knocks it out of the ballpark. Hubby had the green chile grilled cheese and it was da bomb! Loaded with flavor and definitely messy! I recommend adding the chicken and the bacon. Their fries are crispy! The offspring had the giant pretzel and it was appropriately named! Even his bottomless pit self couldn’t finish it! He had to take half of it home! The cheese that comes with it is a flavor explosion in flavor town! We will be back!
Derives was on point and I was jamming to their oldies music the whole time!

Randomly chose to eat here with my hunny since we live nearby. It's Tuesday August 2nd 2022 around 4pm. Started out pretty dead (personally I don't mind that, I'm not big on lots of noise) I felt like we were staring at the menu a good while because nothing was speaking to us. We were about to just leave but decided to try something. We ordered non alcoholic drinks (I'm not supposed to drink alcohol) but I did want a sweet tea.. which they didn't have, so I had to order a water unfortunately. For starters we got the crab hush puppies. When we go the food it looked like some sort of beignet? I wasn't expecting the powdered sugar on the top & I felt like it was dry, definitely burnt (had a not so great burnt taste at that) wasn't a golden color as expected (hence it was burnt probably fried in dirty/burnt oil) & I was still looking for the crab? Barely any in there to call it a "crab" hush puppy. It just wasn't what I was used to especially since I've eaten some really delicious ones in Louisiana (and honestly even surfing crab has some decent hush puppies).
Better news: My hunny ordered the pork belly bahn mi, which wasn't too bad actually. I had the ribeye sandwich, which I thought was pretty tasty.
Unfortunately overall, I don't think we liked it enough to return anytime soon. If we were drinkers we'd probably give it a try, maybe they make good drinks? I dunno.

I used to loved this place but now I will never return. My kids ordered a kids meal that was barely edible. The fries were burnt and smelled burnt as well.. my boys would not eat them. As well as VERY slow service as the staff was hanging around the bar chatting… money wasted & won’t return!

This is one of our favorite pub restaurants in San Antonio. We eat and enjoy drinks here quite often. The food is decadent and rich with flavor and you cannot beat the drink prices.

The General Public was a disappointment. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, the cocktails were enjoyable, but it stops there. The menu looked good at face value, but the food coming from the kitchen was a letdown. We ordered the Green Chile Grilled Cheese (with Chicken) and Fish & Chips. The sandwich came out as a soggy pile of watery peppers and dry chicken between melted American cheese on stale bread. For the fish and chips, the entre consisted of three small fish pieces over a large portion of highly salty, soggy fries. To their credit, breading was quite crispy, if a bit thick, but the overcooked pieces of unnamed white fish were tough and dry beneath it. The icing on the cake; the service was inattentive. We wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but unfortunately, the food just wasn’t it. I might be open to giving them another shot sometime in the future, but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to a friend. If this review sounds salty, just know that it is no more salty than The General Public’s fries.

Attentive bar service , great atmosphere & good drinks. We ordered the toffee brownie dessert and it was fabulous!

4.5 stars. This is a trendy pub/restaurant located in La Cantera. I am surprised that I have never been here before. We tried it during restaurant week, and they have a pretty extensive menu. We ordered off the menu and with the restaurant week menu because we wanted to taste a lot of dishes. The only thing we did not care for was the stuffed mushrooms. They were filled with cream cheese, which was weird. We really liked the chicken meatballs (Korean bbq), spinach and artichoke dip, hot fried chicken (it wasn't spicy though) and the kung pao lettuce wraps. For our entrees, we had the beef tenderloin with fries, I had the salmon with Asian slaw, and there was an order of fish and chips. I also had a Brownie parfeit that was good and not too swwet. The portions are a good size, and the prices are reasonable. We really enjoyed the staff, the atmosphere, and the food.

Friendly, fast, well prepared & clean. Restaurant was very accommodating with walk-ins and adjusted to help the server in that section. The charcuterie board was simple yet flavourful & pleasantly spicy. The ribeye sandwich was very tasty with a reasonable serving size. The fish & chips tasted great especially with the vinegar used, but would be even better with less breading. Restrooms were clean & stocked. Staff were very attentive to our needs. Price point is reasonable given the area rent$.

Been here many times but recently came on a weekday and it wasn’t too busy which was nice. We had old fashions, which were excellent, and I had the pork bahn mi sandwich (without jalapeños) and it was hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Loved it. Bar tender was cool and funny.
