Stopped in for a big family meal after a funeral nearby. Had the fried catfish and fried shrimp with fries, beans and Cole slaw. Cornmeal coated catfish was fresh, well cleaned (none of the gray fatty stuff) and hot. Could have been cooked just a little longer to get it crispy I think. The shrimp were battered and fresh. Batter needed to be thinned out a little. Fries were ok needed more time to get crispy. Think they were frozen bagged ones. Coleslaw was tasty. Beans were good too. Had 10 at our table and about 20 people in our party initially 15 or so more came about 45min later, but after we had already been served. Food service was fast and accurate. The waitstaff however was slow. They only assigned 1 waitress to the room.
All in all a good place to go eat and spend time with friends and family.

Nice staff and good food, always nice when a menu is simple and easy to read instead of having to flip through like 12 pages of food. Maybe that's just me but I appreciated it lol

The fish was amazing!! No question about that. The shrimp, green beans and hush puppies could have been better. Service was awesome and,prices were not bad.

First time ever eating here and it was amazing.. so happy with the food staff and prices... Will be back again and again. My waitress was jaeleigh she was so cool I spoke with her manager mae and she too was so cool. Only complaint is the won't carry you to your car after you stuff your face.. ha ha great place

Great portions. Had to take most of the food home. Had enough for a meal the next day! I had the blackend catfish, it was cooked perfectly and was delicious! We also ordered sampler, onion rings, fried pickles, and mozzarella sticks. Breading was awesome!

There must have been a cook on duty today that did know how to prepare the quail. I was served more jalapenos and bacon I could barely see the slivers of quail. On top of that I was charged 30.00 dollars for a plate that didn't have 3 ounces of quail on it. I've eaten here many times and the food is usually good. Not today. Check Anthony's in Buffalo for a good plate of quail..2 whole quail and sides for less than 20.00dollars.

This was some of the best food I have eaten in my life!! This place is down home country cooking at its finest! The portion sizes are incredible and the prices are wonderful! I will definitely be making the 1 hour and a half drive from Ft. Hood to Mexia again just to experience this delightful delicious cuisine again!
