Worst place to eat in McGregor! I am done with this place. Place a to-go order, told would be ready in 15 mins, get there in 15 mins, go inside to get food, told not ready have to wait 10-15 more mins. Get the food and can tell its not hot and been sitting there. Drive straight home to eat, less than 1/2 a mile from the restaurant and my burger and fries are cold, my wife' s popcorn shrimp isn't cooked all the way and is ice cold, the hush puppies were old and cold, and the box mac n cheese was less than good. I seriously will never eat here again and would have everyone shy away from here. This place got famous due to the Bush's showing up, not because the food was good.

We were referred by a Wacoan who recommended the home-cooked quality of the food, and I can't dispute the description. However, I did not expect to be served at a buffet line. I opted for the single-meat buffet, and the chicken-fried steak portion was ~half of what I would expect in an individual order. My wife said that she would order the cheese steak sandwich again, and she enjoyed the crinkle-cut fried sweet potato. The high points for me were the Biblical themes prominently displayed at the host stand and pin the servers' shirts shirts and audible via the in-store radio broadcast.

Went with a large group and they accommodated us with no problem. The buffet is open, but they do the serving, so it is safer. The sides were excellent. The green beans weren't soggy, bacon crisp, well seasoned. The rolls and cornbread were just our of the oven. The white wings are fantastic with super crispy bacon and nuclear hot cheese.
Only disappointment was the stringy, tough chicken fried steak.

Surprisingly for a small cafe the food was good. I had the Patty Melt from the buffet. The service was great and the price was good too.

Choose between buffet or menu to order. Food is great either way. Be sure to visit their online menu before you head out. Prices are very reasonable and food is great. Worth the drive for sure. May have a bit of a wait on the weekends. Highly recommended.

On Jan 26th , my husband and I came to the coffee shop to eat dinner , arriving at 5:00. We decided to eat from the buffet and was very disappointed in the quality of the food . My chicken fried steak was cold. I guess it was cooked earlier in the day and just put under the warmer. My husband was also not happy with the quality of his food.
I asked the waitress if I could have a take-out tray to take our leftovers to our chickens since they will eat anything, and was told I could not take the leftovers that I paid for, so I quess we should have only paid for half the bill. Needless to say, we do not plan on coming back. Just wanted you to know.

This place is a hidden gem! A great "all you can eat" buffet. Super friendly staff and some really great options. This beats many of the more pricey buffets and all for less that $10 for the lunch buffet?!? Yes please! Will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area.

The burgers are great and the pies are hands down the best around.
