Food was excellent, though it took a while for a server to tend to our table when they weren't very busy. Sitting outside on the patio, there was a distinct smell of garbage that we couldn't place. The service and the smell can be considered "one-offs", though, since this establishment is one which I have, and will continue to, frequent.

The restaurant is great. The bartender is awful and told eveyone she knew my son was Autistic. A co-worker made fun of my daughter, who worked there and the owner let her go for sticking up for herself.

We really respect him but he should get rid if the terrible gossips, who also made fun of her bx her dad died.

The food has improved. Clearly our waitress, with 2 tables didn't bring it out warm.

We really hope they get their staffing issues fixed.

Labor laws need to be observed. I don't think the owner knows the extent of what occurred.

We went for brunch and We started with the Deviled Eggs with Blackened Shrimp. Very good. The Bananas Foster French Toast was delicious and had the perfect proportions of syrup and bananas to toast. Service can be a tad uneven but it was very crowded.

The food was alright, pretty average. The drinks were pretty good. The thing that tanked my experience was the service, the waitress was at the end of her shift (she did not mention this until the check, but in hindsight it explains her behavior). She kind of rushed us through ordering, and we were kind of confused and didn't know what to get, so we all ended up ordering things that we weren't 100% happy with, since we didn't have time to pour over the long menu ( note: it was our first time in). We actually ordered and ate really fast, and even asked for the check before everyone was fully finished with their food (because we sensed she was in a rush and we were trying to be nice). Our waitress put the wrong items on our receipts, we asked her to fix it, and she still got it wrong the second try because she was rushing, AND she rushed us to fill them out and sign and asked us to hurry because she was "trying to leave". Just let another waitress take over your table and get the tips if you're going to rush a potential returning customer. I hate feeling rushed when I'm trying to eat, especially at a sit down place. If I want to be rushed through a meal, i'll go to McDonald's (they have better service).

Oh dear god no. A one-course casual snack took over TWO HOURS. At one point we wondered if the waiter had resigned and left the building without telling anyone. The "Cuban Panini" had a bizzarre taste of day-old tuna salad. It was tiny, for $12. It would have been a small portion even for a child's plate. The side of fries came out 50 minutes after the sandwich, after reminding the waiter. He was nice, but seemed unaware of the extraordinary amount of time it took to get a simple sandwich and (50 minutes later) a tiny basket of fries. But the profound disappointment of a visit to Yaga's was not limited to the tuna-flavored pork sandwich. The "fresh gulf shrimp" po boy sandwich was curiously similar to the Sea Pak frozen breaded fried shrimp available in the grocery stores. Having lived on the Gulf coast for 22 years, I know what fresh gulf shrimp tastes like. You can kind of taste the green ocean in the shrimp, along wth a touch of iodine tang. This shrimp has, I fear, never had the pleasure of a dip in the Gulf. Maybe the Gulf of Tonkin, but certainly not the Gulf of Mexico.
The most regrettable part, though, is that Yaga's was a wonderful place for a fresh and tasty hippie-themed snacking experince 15 years ago. Honestly, I can not recommend this establishment. This is a sad ending for a cafe that was once great.
Next day update: Woke up with gastrointenstinal symptoms consistent with consumption of spoiled food. Avoid this dumpster fire of a failed eatery. Absolutely disasterous dining experience.

I love Yagas! I have been going there for over 20 years. I used to go there for appetizers, drinks and live music on the weekend and now I bring my family there when we are in Galveston. Also, they have annual festivals that we never miss, like Chiliquest in January and Shrimp Fest in September. I especially love their Shrimp Tejas!

Food is Terrible (especially fried, something with the oil I guess), both me and my wife got sick and after effects. Service is good friendly crew. Not many veggie options and cilantro rice is cooked with chicken broth. Not recommend for hungry foodies

We LOVE this place! It was our first time here and we will be returning when ever we visit Galveston again. I love the location of this place. We're in spring break right now but it wasn't overly crowded. There was a band playing outside, the weather was cold. We had a great time outside. We got hungry and decided to try this place that was looking towards the plaza with huge windows. Staff is friendly and food is amazing. I love the texture of the fries, crispy and great flavor. My crispy chicken burger was great; big size. Need to open wide to take a bite. One of my daughters asked for a shrimp burger totally thought it was something else. It was delicious, we've never tried polenta before. Wasn't expecting a $11 price, when I saw it I thought it was more expensive. The food is affordable. I hate pink lemonade but the one my kid asked for was great too not to sweet it was actually perfect.
