Can tell when cooks actually appreciate the food they are cooking. And I appreciate their cooking as well. Been here the last few weekends, and we are coming back every weekend we can from now on.

This long-standing restaurant in Bastrop Texas has a large crowd of locals that patronize it. We stopped in for lunch recently. The staff is exceedingly friendly, and it has a very nice down-home atmosphere. However, the food is at best average. My wife did not care for her chicken fried steak as it was quite tough. I did not care for the grilled cheese sandwich, it just didn't taste very good. I had some onion rings, and they were quite bland... that's just kind of the overall situation regarding the food. So while we did not try their breakfasts and they may be wonderful, I cannot recommend the luncheon foods we had. Prices are reasonable but not inexpensive.

It's our favorite place to eat breakfast in Bastrop. The food is always perfect.

Feels like a funeral home. Everything seemed dirty. Food was ok. No employees wearing masks.

This is a great hometown restaurant with a long lifespan. You could tell that is a local favorite with lots of great Texas favorite. This isn't a place to go if you're looking for a fancy. It is a place to go if you're in the mood for home-style cooking the way Texans used to cook it. The portions are both large and delicious.

First time there... and it was gooood! The waitress (who's been there since she was younger, she said), was AMAZING. I don't remember her name! We sat in a corner table. Hope she sees this and know we mean her. She was attentive, very helpful, super sweet, and good at her job! She gets 5 stars. We went for breakfast. The hashbrowns looked perfectly crispy. I unfortunately didn't order that. I got the sausage and cheese omelette(huge!), grits(creamy!), & biscuits(fluffy!). Had to take it to go. Place was nice, she thanks us and told us it was nice to meet us. We'll go back soon.

The wait at Denny's was over 30 minutes and the manager was extremely rude so we found this place on the other side of the highway. The staff was so incredibly sweet and the food was wonderful! I like my onion rings crispy and they were little undercooked so they were more than happy to take them off my bill. I can't say enough good things about this great eating spot in Bastrop. It's worth getting past the construction!

Breakfast all day. This is a place where you get your money's worth. We got 2 eggs, bacon crispy hash browns and toast. My daughter got a ginormous mickey mouse pancake and we we able to give her some toast, hashbrowns and bacon off our plates. Our 2 yr old also ate off our plates. Sweet tea was perfect, not too sweet like some other places where I have to get half sweet half unsweetened. Good coffee. Nice Texans everywhere in site. Place was clean and we saw employees cleaning. If you have kids make sure you bring some quarters, they have some awesome quarter slot prize things when you walk in and a claw game. They also have a lunch buffet if that's your thing or you can just order off the menu. Casual, seat yourself home cooked meals served by nice Texas people. If you have never been, well bless your heart!

A good local restaurant. Nothing fancy just good food and good prices.
