Pope's Cafe

I eat her at least once a week. Love the atmosphere, food and staff. The salmon patties and meatloaf (not together) are both awesome. I hear the breakfast is to die for as well, but haven't had the opportunity to check it out. If you're in the area for lunch and looking for a good meat and 3 - this is the place!

Excellent fried chicken. Best Burger in Middle Tennessee! I also recommend the Hamburger Steak and don't forget the tallest slice of pie you've ever had. Breakfast is always perfect with a good portion of their "home fries". It's a nice little restaurant with lots of history and a cup kept full of coffee.

Excellent burgers, the best I've ever had in Shelbyville. Staff is always very attentive and friendly. Reasonably priced and clean as well. I've lived in Shelbyville for nearly 20 years, and every dining experience at Pope's has always met my expectations. Very highly recommended.

Loved the old time diner feel. Had a burger and it was great. Homemade patty, not frozen. Waitress was friendly and made me feel like a local. If ever passing through again will try to schedule my lunch time around Pope's!

Wow! What a burger !!! Selection is limited but the food quality and preparation is superb. Not a very big place, but adequate seating at the counter if all the tables are taken. Friendly and efficient staff. And the coffee is really good, too!

My coworker and I eat here frequently because the atmosphere is nice, the price for what you get is amazing and the food is wonderful.

They generally have a choice of two different meats for their lunch plates with a core list of sides that occasionally vary - but don’t worry, if what they have that day isn’t your speed they always have the best burgers in town. They’re actually the best burgers I’ve ever tasted! Definitely come with an appetite, though, the burgers are huge and the lunch potions are filling!

And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the amazing pies with the massive merengue toppers. I don’t even like merengue on my pies but theirs is magic!!

FYI they close at 2:30 pm on Saturday, not 3pm. Food was delicious! Excellent, juicy burger. I felt rushed and that our dining in at 2:10 pm was an imposition.

Quaint little place with good burgers. Not a ton of menu options but that just made ordering easier. The service was friendly as well. Upside was that we got in just before breakfast ended so we could choose from either the breakfast or lunch menu. Downside; they were out of biscuits and gravy.

Pope's is a favorite small diner for my family. Home town folks and comfort foods. Great staff. Plentiful sized portions. Delicious, fresh ingredient chef salad if you need gluten free. Prices good.
