Abridged Beer Company (The Brewpub)

We have been here many times and it is a "go to" for friendly service, outstanding burgers, and great craft brew. We always take our out of town guests here when they visit. This place wont disappoint.

Traveling through and had an opportunity to stop in at Abridged which was 1 mile from our hotel. Great burgers and the beer was superb. One of the most unique service styles that I've ever seen. One person, Devyn, (who was amazing) took orders at the tables and when the beers and the food were ready they were immediately delivered to the tables by whomever was available to do it. The teamwork was amazing to watch. The only disappointing thing was that we don't live nearby and can't visit more often.

I don't often hand-out 5 star reviews, but there is literally nothing I could think of to make this place any better than it is. I'm a foodie, but I don't throw-out the word "connoisseur" often. When it comes to burgers, I am a connoisseur. This place has the best burger I've found in Knoxville. It's probably a top 3 burger for me when I think of all the burgers I've had.

If visiting for the first time, you can't park "on site." You'll have to park at the church next door or across the street at the library. The short walk from either is worth it. I've never been when the line wasn't to the door, but, again, the wait is worth it. They have other things on the menu, which I'm sure are good. But the burger is where you want to start. The buns are toasted, the fries are good and the burgers should be ordered medium rare. This is definitely a family-friendly environment and games will be playing on the TVs.

Use to really love this place, but here lately every time I go to place a to go order they have a fraction of the beer available. I called today and they had no sours at all to go… I don’t know why they offer it if you can only pick from a handful of beer. I only ever go for the beer. The food has always just been okay. It looks better than it tastes.

Hands down the most ridiculous dining experience of my life. Went for a date night with my husband and our two friends to Abridged Beer Company. Everyone received their dinner after a LONG wait except for me. About 15 minutes after their food arrived, we finally got our servers attention, asked if my food was coming, and she said that she would check. She never returned. We asked another server to check on the order. He came back to tell us that my food “must have gone to another table,” but he assured us that the next burger up was coming to me. OVER ONE HOUR LATER, watching 7+ burgers go to different tables, and a discussion with the “manager”, my burger showed up... the manager decided to comp my food. When asked what they planned on doing about the horrible experience, laundry list of excuses from our rude server, and over 2.5 hour wait for all of the food to show up, the general manager and cook/ owner (who never even came out to apologize) said he would do nothing more than take my can of Diet Coke off our bill. We paid over $60 for a blood boiling experience. I will never spend another dime with this establishment, and urge you to do the same.

I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't speak to the brew works aspect of this spot, but the food was great. I had the abridged burger and had to say that it was cooked to perfection. The burger itself wasn't huge, but it was served with an ample serving of perfect fries.

Don't come here when you need to grab food fast. When they're busy, it does take a little time to get things out from the kitchen, but I say it's worth the wait!

Great outdoor space. Hands down best burgers in Knoxville. Nice selection of beer and sours.

At the retail store where I work the boss buys lunch for the employees every Saturday... we eat twice a month from Abridged. This past Saturday I called and ordered for 5 of us, one special order(no onions), gave the bosses credit card number and my cell number. They got the cc number wrong so when I got there the food wasn't paid for. I had to put the hundred dollar check on my card. Got back to the store and there was an extra lunch that wasn't ordered but on the bill. Onions on the bosses burger. A lot of hassle. On the good side the food was great!

Best burger I've ever had. Really unique and delicious beers.

Great food and great beer with an awesome atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon!

Update 11/23/21: Back since a long delay due to COVID but I am still impressed. The burgers, pot roast nachos and pretzels were amazing (but not as amazing as the beer)! They have a well rounded selection of phenomenal beers and cannot wait to be back!!
