Great coffee drinks, service, and atmosphere. Really good food. They also have live music events and brew beer (although I haven't tried it)

We love our coffee from Steel City, it's consistently excellent. If you are seeking a quick run-in and get out coffee this may not be for you. Service was really delayed for coffee, and worse for food. Our recent visit was a Sunday morning around 9:30 so consider that there was a brisk crowd in the mix. On personal level it would have been more relaxing if it weren't for the constant inundation of middle-aged men in cycling attire! Ugh... Our breakfast was very good, albeit not too hot, and as I mentioned it took a while. (Probably waited 35 minutes) That's not really a complaint as much as it is an observation. We'll be back with adjusted expectations. But for today I was less than thrilled.

I’m honestly baffled at all the reviews on here. I decided to try this place out and let me save you the time. I wouldn’t dine here even if they were paying ME. I’m not sure what the owners problem is, wouldn’t leave me alone the whole time. The place kinda has this musky smell that makes me feel sick to my stomach. You’re better off eating that thing they call a pizza from that place called dominos.

This, this is why. I’m not spam, I’m a real human.

Wonderful joint for live music, coffee, lattes, great food, etc. Did I mention Live Music? The owners are fine people and know good music, and bring in great local and regional acts. I will stop in here every chance I get.

Hummmm -five stars for arrogance, best coffee in the galaxy? Was in town visiting from Denver and the locals steered us in a different direction. This wasn’t the place.

One of my favorite places in the ‘ville! First time getting lunch here though. Omg this chicken salad…fresh, perfectly dressed, and gluten free options too!

Delicious coffee. I had the flat white, it was perfect. Cool looking venue with live music. Pastries were good as well. Lunch options looked really good but we had already eaten.

The best coffee shop in Phoenixville. Great food and drink options; including those with dietary restrictions. Outdoor seating and live music on weekends. A must try!

Great environment to hang out for a bit. Cold brew was a little weak in flavor and body for a cold brew - seemed more like a regular iced coffee. Great vegan options that will make me a repeat customer for sure. Looking forward to trying some other coffee options. Staff was friendly enough.

I really enjoy the food, atmosphere and people at Steel City. However, this place is a HOT MESS when they are busy or understaffed. Heads up. Coffee is 10/10 and staff are very friendly.
EDIT: Regarding Owners response to my original review (FULL STORY)
There were several issues that I didn't specify in my initial review, but now feel obligated to do so. No, it was not just an overall poor experience because you are currently understaffed. Most places these days are. That isn't an excuse for poor communication with customers. I called an HOUR ahead to place my order, and was informed of the delay of an excessive 45 mins to make a simple quesadilla- which btw, was not even what I had gotten...which I will address further down. However, my order did not take 45 minutes, it took an hour. While I understood and was patient, a free scone and apologies can only go so far. At some point accountability is also necessary. So this is what my review is to serve as. I genuinely appreciated the friendly service, but you know what would just really be appreciated? Accurate and on-time service. When I did get my order, an hour later, it was terribly made. First of all, it wasn't even a quesadilla, but a burrito. Which was only mentioned as an alternative to how it could be made when I initially called to place my order as a potential to help EXPEDITE my order (saying it would take maybe 30 minutes instead of 45). More miscommunication. Also, why didn't any one clarify with me that it was what I still wanted, since you CLEARLY made the order when I got there and I had to wait an additional 15mins. Then what was even more depressing was when I took a bite of my burrito, it contained an excessive amount of corn with chicken and cheese. Cool. Except not, since the name of the quesadilla literally includes the words corn AND beans. So why were the beans, salsa and sour cream all individually packaged in small plastic containers is beyond me...like, what normal person eats a burrito that they have to unwrap and reassemble?? Especially one ordered from a restaurant? Isn't that the point of me paying you to do it??? Calling ahead - news flash- is supposed to help people who are most likely in a hurry or have other things to do. Hopefully now that you understand the story and my experience fully, you will see the error being more than just an "understaffed" problem, but rather a cook, communication and understaffed problem. Thank you.
