Pretentious coffee shop. Ordered 3 macchiatos and a latte and took 30+ mins for us to get our drinks. I'm no coffee expert so I asked a few questions about different types of drinks and received condescending answers from the staff. I normally don't take the time to write reviews but these "baristas" really rubbed me and my family the wrong way. Maybe next time I'll wear my thick black rimmed glasses and a flannel shirt and won't be met with such disdain by the brother sister team staff. Furthermore, the coffee sucked and they did not seem to care at all that we waited for over a half hour.

Philter is the quintessential coffeehouse experience. Chris and his team brew artisanal, fair-trade coffee that is as premium as it comes -- I didn't even DRINK coffee before Philter, but I was won over with the creaminess of their manual brews. It's a perfect place to hang out for hours, which I do as a photographer when I am in editing mode. And, lastly, Chris has become so much a part of the Kennett Square community that this place truly is a hub of the life of the town during daylight hours. One of my favorite places in the world, and my daughter's, too!

Our friend Helen brought us here and we loved the ambiance, location & lattes.

I came in to Philter an hour ago and ordered a coffee. The girl working told me they stop brewing coffee at 3 because a lot of it goes to waste. Hmmm - they don't brew coffee at coffee house? I have sat here for an hour and literally observed 5 people come in, order coffee, and leave because they don't have it. Additionally, I asked for a splash of soy milk in my espresso, and the girl charged me 75 cents for about a teaspoon of soy milk. I like the atmosphere here, but the customer service needs work.

This is a nice, quaint place. It has a cozy atmosphere, with a throw together style, which gives it an almost homely feel. The staff are nice and dressed in the very appropriate hipster garb.

My main dissatisfaction stems from the poor design choices. Such as the tables, which are seemingly made out of scrap wood screwed together, the problem with these tables is not the materials, but instead is the fashion in which they were assembled; leaving sixteenth inch spaces in-between the boards. Into these viods fell the crumbs of long forgotten meals, and were left festering in their solitude. It is more the byproduct of the lack of forethought, than negligence.

Another such flaw is the positioning of the door, which is situated in one of the main seating rooms. Every time the door is opened the poor souls sitting in said area are besieged by a rush of outside air (Which if I'm being honest threw off my vibe; Not groovy!).

All in all this is a good place to get in tune with your inner zen, update your blog, or simply enjoy the passage of time. For the food is good, the people are pleasant, and it's just a short Penny farthing ride from the center of Kennett!

Finally went by to check out this place. It was packed w/ a few tables available but couldn't sit bc some parents & kids had some sort of crafts on it as well blocked path 2 reach ordering area.We decided 2 order 2 go.As for food, chicken salad sandwich was delicious, but my husband ordered same chicken salad & its taste was totally different. Not same taste @ all.I also ordered a cappuccino but that tasted more like having 5 expressos in a xtra small cup.Too strong! Food was very pricey for the small portions.Parking can b challenged as well, expect to pay parking or find a parking space.

The young man with the blonde hair was extremely rude and argumentative. I will not be returning
