This light house is so unique to the others I've been to in Oregon. You are able to go inside the lens unlike other tours. The tour guides are passionate about their tours and are interactive with their group which is always so fun. The museum has tons to explore and I will definitely be back to see this one at night as it gives off a beautiful red which I've never seen before. Can't wait to visit again!

There is some beauty to be found here in a short break from a coastal drive. One thing missing in Oregon's smaller roads are restrooms. This attraction has some right at the parking lot. It's pay-to-park but my National Forest Pass did the trick. The walk up to the keeper's cottage is nicely maintained and a reasonable slope.

We showed up to do a tour and it was closed due to maintenance. The museum host was very gracious and hosted us the next morning. It was a very informative tour with many interesting facts about this specific lighthouses history and the Oregon coasts other lighthouses. Very much enjoyed the 45 min tour in the lighthouse as well the museum. The info just on how the glass lens technology was developed justified the time. Worth the time and small cost!

We just looked at it, no tour. We respected the signs and I think it’s cool that the government provides housing for the coast guard and their families. So grateful for their services they provide. The light house information was great, impressive how it was built and maintained. Beautiful area! So glad we stopped!

Really cool thing to see. The Coast Guard maintains the lighthouse and there is a great Coast Guard museum onsite as well. You get a bird's eye view of the jetty and the bar. No boats going either way on this visit! The swells must have been close to 20 feet tall.

The Umpqua River Lighthouse is a great stop for so many reasons! First, the TOUR. The tour is terrific! I think the cost was $8 per person and for that we got both a guided tour and the opportunity to explore their museum at our own pace. The museum had multiple rooms filled with history on both the lighthouse and the Coast Guard. It was an interesting place to explore and it gave us some context for the building we were about to see. The lighthouse itself was beautiful, but the most amazing part was at the top of the stairs, where we could actually stand inside the revolving lens! I’ve been to many lighthouses and I can honestly say I’ve never had that experience. Plus it’s a very rare red Fresnel lens, so bonus points! Our tour guide, Mike, was incredibly knowledgable. He was full of fascinating facts and stories. We probably could have spent another hour talking to him, but he did have other tours to get to. :) Beyond that, you have the view, which is gorgeous. We stopped at one of the benches and ate our lunch overlooking the sand dunes, forest and ocean beyond. They also have a great little gift shop were you can purchase souvenirs or even grab a light meal. It’s an all around wonderful stop that you don’t want to miss!

Pretty property. Super cool Gift Shop. We didn't go on the $8 per person tour to see inside the Lighthouse or Museum.

Fantastic tour. Was quite surprised to learn so much about lighthouse history and about the coast gard. Our guide was awesome. Make sure to go to the museum also.

When you go visit the Umpqua River lighthouse be sure to take the tour. It is well worth it. It's a pretty amazing lighthouse. It has the identical same floor plan as the Heceta head lighthouse.
