River Road Coffee House

Whenever we are in Newark we try to visit this coffee shop. I have never been disappointed with the service or the quality of their work. The atmosphere is spot on for a relaxing little coffee shop. The only very small complaint is the location. If you happen to be headed north when you are leaving the traffic can be a real pain.

The lattes are always really great here. The baristas know their stuff and I've never had one scald my milk or leave my espresso out for too long. Definitely a place to go if you need your caffeine fix!

Really want to love this place. But a request for a simple Cuban coffee was met with the response that they wouldn't risk their $12,000 coffee machine investment. I'd much prefer to support mom and pop shops, but can't really do so when a simple coffee request is met with trepidation and incredulity.

Instead of word NO, a response of "I haven't had this request before, I'll have to clear it with my boss, but yeah, that sounds great, I really want to do it for you next time," would have been appreciated.

Never had a bad experience, and their frozen coffee drinks are the best I've ever had! (Try the frozen Campfire Mocha, you're welcome)

This place is very nice and cozy, it even has outdoor seating for the warmer days of the year. If you are looking for a place for a meeting or just some quiet time with a book, this is the place to be. The employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. Their drinks and pastries are very good.

Best local coffee shop! Baristas are always friendly & they make excellent drinks.

They're fast, but could use a chic filet style drive thru. 4 lane coffee carhop...... that's hot

I'm picky about coffee, so the fact that River Road (and Wiggins Street in Gambier, same owners) serve such a good cup makes me super happy. The only disadvantage to this place is that it's too popular, and the drive through line is often wrapped around the building, just when I most need caffeine. So why am I writing a positive review so might send them more business? So they stick around, of course! Support your local business and get a superior cup of coffee! (Or cappuccino, or mocha - they have exceptional mochas)

LOVE the coffee and all the many selections. I prefer to go here because it’s LOCAL rather than spend my money at places like Starbucks, Tim Hortons.... I’d give 5 stars but man the drive thru is absolutely TERRIBLE. Needs serious improvement and it’s been like this for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I have to go to Tim Hortons just because I don’t have the time to sit in the drive thru for over ten minutes.....

Previously I had posted that the staff was really nice, but the food was not prepared well. A regional ops manager reached out and asked me to come try them again and I have and on top of having really nice staff, they really do have good food and beverages. Highly recommend trying an iced coffee and one of their baked goods when your in the mood to treat yourself or starting your day.
