What a cute little coffee shop. Nice, open interior, with a few different tables with chairs outside. Dare I say it, totally ~aesthetically~ pleasing? I was worried about parking, but there’s a parking lot on the side and behind the building. It’s on a busy street as well, so there’s quite a bit of loud traffic if you sit outside, but it’s doable. Oh, and hurry up and get the maple ginger latte while you still can! I got mine iced, because it was fairly warm today, but you can get it hot. Only reason I’m taking away a star is because the drink didn’t mix well / I didn’t get a good taste of the maple ginger until I got halfway through the drink, but I would give it another shot, for sure.

Love the coffee!!! Sandwiches are delicious and fresh. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff. Hope to make a trip there each time we visit our son and daughter-in-law in Raleigh.

First time trying this place, decided to go for a Vietnamese coffee. Absolutely undrinkable. They clearly dont know how to make a good one. Next time I'll try a pour over.

Desserts were top tier and worth it alone tbh. Hope to give Idle hour another try soon and update this rating.

Truly excellent 3rd Wave coffee shop. Detail oriented from start to finish. From a beautiful, comfortable atmosphere, to an exquisite homemade dessert (Tiramisu), to handcrafted PERFECT espresso and pour over. Extremely impressed and highly recommended.

I'm so disappointed by Idle Hour. I live 3 hours away, and as we were passing by Raleigh I made my family (myself, husband, daughter, and his parents) stop here this morning. I bought a vietnamese coffee, a hot chai, a cookie, and an amazing looking Amanita mascaria cheesecake. We got the pastries quickly, but they completely forgot our drinks, after 15 mins of just sitting around, the barista asks if we are still waiting for drinks. I told her a vietnamese coffee and a chai, and she asks hot or iced and what size? This was the same barista that rang me up and took my order! The shop wasn't very full when we got in, but quickly began filling up and we watched as people who came in after us got their drinks. Also, I never even got a receipt. I'd never come back.

TLDR: fantastic baked goods, okay coffee, TERRIBLE service.

The Vietnamese coffee is INCREDIBLE. I can’t believe I’ve gone so long in life without having it. Super friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and delicious pastries/deserts, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Super cute coffee shop with great treats (scones, biscotti, etc.) and wonderful coffee! Staff is always very helpful and kind and place is great with covid restrictions. Outdoor seating is nice and you can usually find a spot to sit and enjoy your drink. A must try if you’re in Raleigh!

This is a Very Incredible and very spectacular and very remarkable Coffee House!! This is a Very Special place that is a Great and Amazing favorite place of my Awesome Brother and a Very good friend of his! They not only have Coffee but they also have different cheesecakes and donuts and Special treats!! Come and give this Amazing place a Try!! Overpriced tiny cups of bad coffee and donuts that just hang out without any sort of glass or barrier or literally anything. They're stale they're gross.

Looks good, enjoyable atmosphere, but It’s very obvious by the running around, disorganization, and lost look on people’s faces -not to mention the over extracted/inconsistent espresso- that this is a cafe that is posing as a specialty coffee shop. Their Instagram for instance shares a boastful video about how they measure every shot, but it’s obvious the guy pulling the shot hasn’t ever worked as a barista, or at least never had proper training, as he didnt measure the dose or use scales to weigh his output. it’s offensive to those of us that have spent years in the industry, working our butts off for less then minimum wage in most cases. Couldn’t someone else have pulled that shot or does no one know what they are doing there? The coffee is just ok. The food is actually delicious. Most of the items they have are either found at other cafes or just not that interesting but the donuts they bring in are amazing. Unfortunately there is nothing special about this place when it comes to coffee. If you care about coffee in any way then go somewhere else, if you’re just looking for a quick cup, again go somewhere else, but if you want a McDonald’s quality cup at specialty coffee wait times, you’ve found the place. Idle hour is just perfectly average and that’s disappointing for a place that has a lot of potential. they’re new, but not that new. There’s no excuse for the quality or cluelessness. The people are nice enough, but they have no idea what’s going on. if you ask them anything about the drinks, coffee, menu, price, food, etc... you get a blank stare. How is that possible after being open this long? Who’s in charge and why aren’t they training people on basic things like menu items?
