Nice atmosphere, quick service, and good coffee. The breakfast roles are excellent. True coffee house experience.

Talk about good coffee... You can't go wrong with a coffee here, I normally get a cappuccino, but I have tried several drinks here and none have disappointed. Cool vibe here, they serve patisseries and sandwiches too but I have not had one yet.

I went yesterday just to get a cup of coffee and they were slammed. However the staff was incredible! They still managed to be polite. Everything tasted good. They created a warm and welcoming environment even while being busy beyond the brink. I felt so impressed and welcomed and grateful for everything they were doing. Even though they were busy they were amazing.

Today 1/21/23 We stopped in as soon as they opened. The mushroom cheese cake is 9 dollars each 🍄 the green apple 🍏 cheesecake is 6 dollars. I REALLY wanted to like this place bc of the unique desserts. However they are not the American cheesecake you're thinking of. It's a frothy flan-like with cheesecake "flavoring" taste. The coffee was luke warm and no bells and whistles that one would expect. The donuts were large but the taste was lacking, like leftovers from last week. Which there is nothing wrong with mediocre foods, but not at those prices. I would like to see more varieties of coffees and flavors and more engaging of the staff. I saw customers come in that weren't greeted or directed to condiments after their purchase.

Idle Hour hits a sweet spot in the Raleigh coffee market, providing a bright, warm spot in the Oberlin area for a variety of drinks/goods. It’s a beautiful space, with an even lovelier team. The matcha is to die for, and their iced coffee is good too! Would recommend getting a bagel while you’re there as well. I appreciate their dedication to their drinks cooler - if you’re not a coffee or tea person they offer a variety of both flat and sparkling waters, kombucha, etc. Comfortable seating, clean environment, good outlet access, and immaculate vibes. :)

Get. The. Vietnamese. Coffee. I promise you haven't had anything like it. You will not regret it, in fact, you will go back tomorrow to get it again. That's a guarantee. Honestly, just go ahead and make a new line item to budget for each month because this place is excellent and you will see them multiple times per week! Always something new on the menu, and good luck trying to walk out without buying a pastry. The donuts are like Odysseus' sirens. You'll leave with one or ten of them with you. Idle Hour is amazing. GO. That is all. You're welcome.

The place was so cute! I dropped in for their mushroom cheesecakes! Unfortunately the cheesecakes were one of my least favorite deserts i’ve ever had :/ more like a jello cap, white chocolate stem filled with raspberry jam and a poorly done sponge cake for the base. I was really hoping for cheesecake to share with my husband for our anniversary but there wasn’t anything cheesecake about it. I would 100% go back to the coffee shop & give their other pastries a shot though!

Idle Hour Coffee is this adorable coffee shop nestled on Oberlin Rd. It's got great decor and an awesome vibe. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was their beautiful pastry and dessert case. They had the most scrumptious looking baked goods. I had to purchase their blueberry, banana and almond loaf. It was the right amount of sweet, tart and moist. My brother ordered the Cheesecake, which was uniquely shaped like an apple and had apple filling in the middle. I also ordered the Golden Hour Latte. It wasn't my cup of tea, literally, but it was beautifully made and smelled amazing. It just wasn't that strong chai type tea that I thought it would be. However, that will not stop me from coming back and trying something else. They have great outdoor seating and they are following CDC guidelines during COVID.

First time for coffee today at Idle Hour Coffee and instantly the interior decor with fresh white, green, black & wood color scheme is amazing! The off the street entry gives you the feel like you're visiting another city. Great display of the menu, fresh pastries, beautiful coffee machines & other coffee equipment! Their Chai Tea Latte was a great go to for the first time! Definitely will be back!

Came to leave two extra stars after my unpleasant experience with some of staff because Kate, a barista here, took the time to find me on social media after seeing my one star review and reached out to me to let me know they were a struggling underpaid service worker and a bunch of other irrelevant stuff but anyhow, kate if you see this I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings- and maybe the one star was a little harsh… but I think finding me and following me social media to share your feelings with me personally was a lil weird. However, my opinion still stands, the baristas here were rude to me during my visit. Now I can’t even give idle hour a second chance because I’m scared of Kate :/
