I was having a bad morning didn't have time to make coffee. I quickly pulled into coffee bus for the 1st time & was greeted sooo kindly. Coffee was made in 2 minutes and I was off to work in a whole other mood then when I 1st stepped foot on the bus. Thank you!

I was excited when I google mapped coffee shops and there was a coffee shop not corporate or has not been around for 101 years. Also it was rated very high. In my opinion: the two baristas were not particularly friendly. Seemed to be put out that I wanted an iced drink. Ordered an iced latte and what did I get? Ice, a shot not made in front of me and milk sloshed in to the top. Paid $3.50 for it. It was gross. Only had liquid brown sugar as a sweetener. Super limited choices. wanted a pound of their in-house roasted coffee to try in my espresso machine and they don't even have a grinder to grind it. I poured my drink out and now I'm at Dunkin Donuts. Fortunately for others my experience is an outlier of what others report.

Love the coffee! I was introduced to TAPROOT through my work place, spent 2 or 3 months trying to find them, and on a whim stopped by the bus and it turned out to be TAPROOT! The coffee is bold and flavorful., and the price is great! This is an awesome group of people who do everything in house.

This coffee bus was so cute! I could tell it’s well loved by the community, there were a few people hanging out and chatting when I stopped by. Had a delicious oat milk iced chai latte. Will be back!

We came to this little coffee bus last year, and it was so cool, this year we went back and it was a full size bus! I was so happy with the success of the owner being able to make a local "bus"iness. Everything was amazing, the coffee, the employees, and the atmosphere. Coming back again in 2020!

By far the BEST coffee in Hickory and surrounding areas. There is really no comparison and you're truly missing out if you haven't stopped by. The atmosphere is definitely cozy and their new bus is awesome with plenty of space. It's nice and toasty inside and there's even a cute pac-man game. It's so important to support local, and as my husband and I own a small business in hickory as well, I will gladly support them over any corporate coffee shop hands down - you can not even begin to compare the quality of ingredients that go into your cuppa Joe.
That said, the only improvement I can see them making would be in respect to customer service. Maybe it's me and I expect a bit too much on that end... and it's not that anyone has been blatantly rude or anything. There has just been a couple experiences where I have felt a level of apathy amongst the staff. Such that, i dont feel like a valued customer. However, I will say I have had wonderful experiences with the blonde female staff memeber (sorry i dont know her name).
Either way, you're silly not to support these young adults trying to stand out in a city, that quite frankly, has one too many starbucks and other basic coffee houses. SUPPORT LOCAL. Hickory wont change until we support local businesses like these, that put their heart and soul on the line to offer superior and crafted products for the end-consumer.

I was so ECSTATIC when I mapquested coffee shops and there was a coffee shop not corporate, or so tyrannical that they crucify me for not using Latin dictation for their coffee sizes. Also, the reviews were so good, SO GOOD. and almost suspiciously so. In my opinion: the two baristas basically treated me like royalty. As soon as I walked in the bus they stopped what they were doing and immediately bowed before me and replied, “how may we serve you.” I ordered a simple ice latte, and what did I get? ICE, but not just any old gas station locker ice, the two baristas proceeded to roll out an immaculate sculpture of ice, chiseled in such a form of artistry that rivaled that of any Roman statuesque fraud that the Smithsonian could conjure. After the baristas chipped off my own section of artisan ice...the espresso, perfect, dark, mysterious. It was as if I was at the circe de sole as I watched them pull my shot for my latte. And finally, at last, as if I didn’t think it could be better. Milk, ice cold, frothy, freshly squeezed from a cow that was being grass fed behind the bus. From my astonishment, I literally paid a measly 3.50$ which I thought was an insult to this establishment. It’s highway robbery. As I drank my coffee in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot, I began to wonder what an insult it is to even have the absolute gall to be in the same city as the coffee bus, just give up dunkin’, you’ve lost. Your time has come. All in all. This experience was religious, breathtaking, poetic. Hoziers song “Take me to Church” was written about the TapRoot Coffee Bus. Amen.

I didn't know I was a coffee snob until I tried Malachi's Costa Rican dark roast. Having fresh coffee in the morning makes for such a great start to the day! You can always find the Taproot booth at the Hickory Farmer's Market, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Stop by for a cup of hot or iced coffee, some friendly and informative coffee conversation, AND grab a bag of freshly roasted coffee beans. There is also a small stand in Thistle Dew Nicely gift shop downtown. Definitely worth a stop!

Super unique set-up with great coffee. Look forward to going back and grabbing another coffee with Malachi.
