We came to meet our son in Hickory to get his car serviced. He was hungry so
after googling, we decided to try this place. It’s nice & bright. I like all the art that appears to be for sale.
Nice concept.
But they appeared to be understaffed, these ladies were doing it all, taking orders and running back to make the food. We ordered the Reuben, the Waldorf, the broccoli soup, and my son did a pick 2. The cookie included with this meal was meh, it was a bite & toss. Sadly. I think I should have upgraded to a better treat.
This place totally reminded us of Panera. But the soups were unfortunately cold and needed to be sent back for reheating. Other than that, we enjoyed the sandwiches.

There is a sense of a Hospital food environment but the food is clearly not that type. By this I mean it feels like a hospital kitchen set up, with little personality despite owners, customers, and food that tells a wonderful story. There have been few times I have been wowed by the food but underwhelmed by the environment in and of itself. The prices are fairly average and the customer service is good, but this place could really be taken over by some better decorum and environmental changes.

While I love a good local restaurant, Hickory Cafe still has some challenges to overcome. The decor is modern and minimal, I liked the local art features. The cleanliness is very good. The staff were polite but I didn't feel they went out of their way to be courteous. There was nothing creative or particularly outstanding about the food. Keep working at it guys, you'll get there.

The Hickory Bread Cafe served a delicious lunch. I had the turkey sandwich and pasta salad. The turkey is sliced, and stacked on artisan bread, served cold with chips or soup. I didn't get the soup but I will be going back to try the Red Pepper & Gouda. The inside was clean and the cashier was very polite.

Went here for the first time for lunch with my daughter and was really impressed! Great alternative to Panera. The place is really clean, spacious and staff is friendly and attentive. The food was great and portions were a good value. Would definitely come back.

Had a great lunch here today. This place is super clean! We loved Atlanta bread, but I think Hickory Bread is even better! The food was great and the service was fast. All the employees were very nice and can answer any questions you have. The menu is exciting, pastries looked amazing. I highly recommend this place. Can’t wait to go back.
*These local businesses need us right now as patrons. We will be back soon*

Went back for another delicious lunch today!
Salad was very good!

I don’t think anything is from scratch here. $30 for 2 at lunch. Not worth the money but ok taste for the soup. I asked if the soup had dairy in it and the response was I don’t know? Wow don’t come here if you have a food allergy. They could at least read the side of the bag or whatever the soup came in. Sandwich was sad! Owners really need to clean the place. Food establishments should be clean and inviting.

Ordered French toast and a breakfast bagel, sat at a table for 20 minutes then the woman who took our order came over and asked if we were waiting for food and what we ordered. We just asked for a refund and she said that they’re only two people, but there was only two other tables of people at the time. Disappointing first and last experience!

My wife and I stopped into this recommended bread cafe. We each ordered the "Pick 2" half sandwich, salad, or soup. I choose the tuna salad sandwich with a Caesar salad. My wife picked the chicken Waldorf sandwich and tomato basil soup. Everything was quite tasty. The Caesar dressing was made fresh. My salad didn't come with the signature "homemade croutons" which was a big disappointment. Overall the bread was good, the food was ok and the price was appropriate for the location and product.
