I love the atmosphere here. it is a great place to come and hangout with friends or study privately. the coffee is so good and the style is very distinctly “carrboro” in the best way possible. the bread and pastries here are really good too

Went to this place while travelling through town. Pretty cool looking place with a good vibe except for the staff. Pretentious coffee person that touched a garbage bag and then wanted to make my drink. I tried to politely ask her to wash her hands and O got some kick back, like I was being rude. After the hands were cleaned, we were all good except for some attitude.

This café feels like it's been here for a long time, a spot that doesn't change much but age and attract a new group of students each Fall. The coffee is well priced and the staff are friendly. This is the kind of spot I would have loved to hang out at after class in high school, and it's still a homey spot to do work, especially in mid-afternoon.

This was the WORST coffeeshop experience I have ever had! First of all, its super overpriced. $5 for a regular latte? Are you kidding me? And then an extra dollar for the extra syrup? I have never paid that much for a regular coffee. And it was not even AMAZING coffee, it was starbucks-like coffee that you could get for way cheaper. The customer service was not good either. We asked for light ice, and the coffees came with 90% ice in the cup. We also asked for some water and they forgot to give us any water. The WiFi did not work at all, so we could not even study there. Very unpleasant experience! Would not recommend going there!

Terrible rude service with mediocre overpriced coffee. I have tried this place several times (9x) to give it a chance and I am officially done. Staff are rude and inconsistent. On no occasion do they remotely attempt to be pleasant. The place always feels dirty and is filled with flies. This place seems like it is dying a slow death of apathy and neglect. Avoid this place unless you want to be punished for spending money. Its clear who ever runs this place could care less about the customers and just feel they can pretty much get away with anything and the customers will just keep on coming back. The music is usually way too loud and the furniture is disgusting and filthy. I will continue to tell everyone to pick other places over this place any day of the week. It is unfortunate since it is a convenient location for many. Maybe the owner should sell the place or clean it up and hire people who care.

I always make it a point to visit independent coffee shops when I travel, since coffee makes up a big part of my life, and Open Eye was quirky, hipster, and typical “college town” cafe. What I didn’t expect was how rich and tasty the coffee would be! Whatever they do with those beans, they do well and they clearly take pride in it because their coffee is TO DIE FOR

Great espresso drinks, great drip coffee, great staff, lots of seating. Music: Pixies, MF DOOM, vulfpeck

Coffee was great . And in a time when many coffee places only use paper they use real cups!!! Hooray!

Nice coffee shop, bring some headphones if you need to study a lot and do not like studying with ambient noises. There are plenty of open spaces to hangout and chill. I ended up sitting at a classroom desk bench which gave me reminiscent feelings of being in college again. My only gripe for this place was the lighting. I was by the couch square and had some trouble reading my book once the sun went down.
Overall, I recommend this place for it's ambiance, I'm not much of a coffee drinker so I can't recommend or review it as a true coffee house. I've only had their unsweetened iced tea which was good and kept me caffeinated.
