Open Eye is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Carrboro / Chapel Hill area. I come here a lot to study and do work. Though it is often very busy, I usually find an open table. There are also a couple of side rooms that are popular for those trying to study. The staff is very friendly and the coffee is great. There’s also a large outdoor area in the back (in addition to the tables in the front). Highly recommend Open Eye!

Quite an awful experience. The WiFi was spotty at best, it took forever to get our coffee, asked for lite ice, half the volume of the cup was ice, asked for water, never got that, spent 5 times as much money for basically the same amount and quality (maybe worst) of coffee you’d get at Dunkin. I understand they seemed busy and they were very friendly which makes me feel bad with this review, and the vibe was somewhat nice. Even if the service and WiFi was good, I don’t see myself ever wanting to come back for the watery coffee. But yeah, avoid this place unless you wanna ruin your day.

very good coffee, friendly staff and no matter how busy it is they always seem to get my order out pretty fast and still made with care. i love that they stay open so late for a coffee shop and how spread out the inside is. my the only con is that it’s a bit expensive but not too much more than other cafes in the area. the curbside/contact free pickup is excellent and fast, definitely one of my favorite things about this place.

I only got a coffee nothing to eat, so unsure how food is here honestly...but staff was friendly and service was fast. If in area I would visit again.

Great cafe. They also use some of the best beans in the triangle and sell them at a better price than other shops I've been to that use Carboro roasters.

First started coming here, literally last century when I built a home on nearby Sweet Bay Place. Moved away then returned recently and to my taste/caffeine delight,,,, Open Eye was alive and kicking!!! Which speaks for itself quality wise. It continues to maintain a wonderful clean spacious interior seating arrangement with a homey yet energetic funk that is extremely hard to find anymore. Outside the front of the building seating is a treat, with lot's of elbow room. Also if you prefer, in the back is a very open (and covered) airy outside table area. AND the parking is fantastic, if you can't find a space right outside the front door (I've parked there 99% of the time I've gone there). There also is a spacious free public lot on the side of the building just across the street . The coffee (particularly my favorite "Red Eye" created by Natalie) will get you closer to where your going,,,, no mater where it is, and quickly:) Another, very impressive feature of the Open Eye Cafe's community commitment, are the plaques on the walls that attest to the place's dedication to quality AND sanity! For example one reads "Orange County Living Wage Employer",,,,,, When was the last time you saw that!?!? The people who make it all work have been consistently professional, pleasant and the providers of reasonably priced yet absafreakinglootly terrific coffee. Best deal for the money! Build the better,,, Open Eye Cafe is part of the solution!

Basic Chapelboro coffee bar with many folks computer sitting. Good, friendly service. With road work in area, parking near by can be problematic

Was not a good day for this place the cashier offered free coffee so I tipped two dollars and then the coffee was terrible so I requested some more and that was terrible too. I would have rather paid for a good tasting cup of coffee. And when I told the barista he got upset. I want my $2 back from tip.

I tried Open Eye three times and I don't get how they get such rave reviews. All three times I've had great service and terrible coffee. It's super expensive and both the coffee and espresso drinks I've tried have tasted super bitter and burnt. I've dressed it up, I've asked for recommendations, and I have struck out each time I visited. Super disappointing considering it has more seating and is open later than most other coffee places in the area. I think #3 will be the last time I try it out.

Coolest little cafe in Carrboro. Great baristas, and decent pastries. I go almost every day.
