A true gem. Wonderful baristas who work to know your name and order. A good vibe. Great drinks. I never want open eye to change.

I feel really safe here as a very visible trans woman. I’m new to town and like to go here when I need to be around other queer and trans people, because there seem to always be queers here! Probably the most comfortable I’ve ever felt in a public place in NC. Great indoor and outdoor seating, lovely staff, and the cold brew float changed my life.

Decent environment for getting work done, but the coffee left a lot to be desired. I don't know if I've ever had coffee more bitter than what I got here. I think that either the beans were burned or the coffee was over-extracted.

Coffee was awesome. Had the chai with espresso. Barista was seriously rude. I asked if the drink on the counter was mine and got a snarky response about how there were other drinks ordered in front of mine. Could have just said no!

Hands down my favorite coffee/tea spot in the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area. If I'm headed into town or even passing nearby, I can't fight the urge to stop by. The blends are phenomenal and the options feel endless. My favorite parts? The art displayed on walls from local artists and the smiling, friendly staff always ready to greet customers walking in the door. 😍☕

I got kicked out for eating outside food. If you didn’t want that to happen, please just place a sign on the door.

I love Open Eye! I never really got to see it in the before times, but even during the pandemic, Open Eye has been a great spot to have just a little touch of normal in your life. I appreciate that they still make good efforts to try to protect their staff and I really appreciate the diversity in the staff as well. In addition to the social elements, the drinks here are always fantastic and the pastries from 9th St Bakery are always fresh! I love coming here and I will continue to do so for as long as I live in the Triangle.

I found the aesthetic of this place to be interesting but also cold and impersonal. The drinks were okay, and I was disappointed they didn’t offer any sort of food but 3 flavors of a snack bar. There is a decent amount of space though making it a great place to go and do work/study.

I love this place, but sometimes the coffee is so bad I exchange it for a cup of tea.
