A classic Rochester coffee shop that has stood the test of time. Personal favorite drink is the Terrapin!

The food is amazing here and the service is one of a kind too. They have an awesome menu selection and the service staff are the best.

Awesome local place for coffee and bakery items. Espresso and cannoli were both great. Nice vibe and decor.

This is the BEST coffee shop in the city, with something unique to offer at every corner.

Get the terrapin or Aztec mocha for a hand crafted beverage, and a health cookie. If here for lunch, check out the sand which case!

First time I came here I was 17. Now I'm 32 and stop in whenever I'm in town. I got the white chocolate hot chocolate on my first trip. This time was the London fog. So delicious on both accounts

A legendary Rochester institution. I've been coming here since my sister took me here in high school (I'm 27) and I still consider it an occasion. I've traveled to numerous cities around the world, visited cafes in all of them, and I still haven't found one that compares. Javas has been a consistent part of my life for years and I have many memories tied to it. I've gone here for dates. Finished some of my favorite books. Wrote most of my masters thesis. Studied for the GRE and many exams. Lunch with coworkers and friends. This is where I go to catch up with buddies from out of town. Javas is an invaluable asset to Rochester because it's one of the few gathering places open late that doesn't involve alcohol. The prices are reasonable. Ample indoor and outdoor seating. Quirky and unique atmosphere. Bars, theaters and entertainment within walking distance. Good coffee and friendly staff. Long live Javas!

I’m so happy we stumbled upon this place! The coffee is fantastic and the barista Celine was even better. She made a great coffee and ground our beans on the spot when we just had to bring it home with us. Thank you!

I really loved this place. It has a really rich interior, lots of interesting art on the walls, lots of little nooks and crannies and yet feeling spacious with its high ceilings. Although it's in a part of the downtown where there are tall buildings and the interior spaces tend to feel dark, the large windows do help it feel a bit brighter. There are also a diverse array of baked goods here. I really loved the flourless chocolate cake. Probably my favorite thing about this place, however, is that it served high-quality loose-leaf tea. I am a huge fan of places that actually brew tea from loose-leaf, especially when they have good tea. I also was impressed at how quickly the staff served people. There was a pretty big line when I got here, but it moved so quickly that it was a non-issue. I tend to like most independent coffee shops, but this one is definitely above-average in the ways I care about.

Great beverages, great for lunch. Most of staff is friendly.... As much as I appreciate Javas tolerance for the mentally ill, street people, hobos, bums, I will find another coffee shop, non compare, but everytime I sit outside I get multiple requests for $. I usually have a conversation.
But the old guy on his Schwinn bike, lights up as he steps out the door, every time. I think he can read because I stuck the no smoking sign is his face as he was smoking and reading his book!!

Bye bye Javas I will miss you!!!

Always great! GF & Vegan choices, tons of coffees, drinks, teas, there's even a pool table downstairs, trendy crowd, eclectic decor, love it! Classic Rochester coffee spot.
