Every time I’m in town to visit my wife’s family, I stop in and get a Turkish coffee. They are the best from this place.

Love this place! Only complaint is no sandwiches/soup on Sundays.

Super friendly staff! I had a delicious, perfectly hot latte with a bit of almond and a cappuccino. Great vibe too - dim with big windows and ample seating.

A trip to downtown Rochester just isn't complete without a stop at Java's. Coffee, desserts and sandwiches on Gibbs Street will always put a smile on your face! Say hello to Mike!

Nice coffee and tea! Good options and a cozy spot to study!

It’s a very nice coffee shop. The staff are really nice and the beverages are made with love. However, it is VERY cold in the cafe during the winter months that makes it almost unbearable to enjoy. Perhaps this establishment should consider insulating their windows, increasing outlet access, and cranking up the HEAT. Other that that all is well 😌

I cannot recommend Java’s ENOUGH. As a college student who struggles a lot to stay focused on work, I find this place to be such a great environment for studying and hanging out alike! The art is beautiful, the staff is absolutely amazing and friendly, the drink options are unique and not super overpriced (very worth the money), the pastries and treats are delicious, and the patrons are super kind and oftentimes regulars! The options are all delicious, and there is such a wide variety! Definitely things for everyone!!

There’s this kinda unspoken comfort with other people because so often, there are just other students sitting around and studying for hours, so many people will just get up to order a coffee or use the restroom and just leave their things out at their table because they know the other patrons have their back! It’s such a great environment, and so accepting.

They also are serious about mask wearing during COVID-19, and as someone with an immune system problem but also with difficulty studying in my dorm, I feel safe and respected by the baristas and the other patrons.

Like I said, I cannot recommend Java’s enough! I will be transferring colleges this upcoming semester, and I am GENUINELY VERY SAD because I will miss Java’s so much. It truly is probably one of the places in Rochester and during my time in college that I’ll miss most. What a lovely space to feel welcome, heard, respected, and for a delicious cup of coffee!! ❤️

Great coffee shop, with fantastic tea!
The ambiance is fantastically quirky and uniquely Gibbs!
Staff is patient is you waffle over tea choices. The water for the tea is actually hot enough for a good steep.(tea is not a side hustle done poorly) They will refill your water till your eyes are floating.
Sadly, the bathroom is inaccessible to anyone who finds an old steep staircase unpassable, but the UR Sibley music library is directly across the street and easy to access, flat or ramped easily between the two. (I don't know if they have an accessible option by request, I just headed for Sibley)
There are pool tables in the basement!
There is also a handicap parking spot right when turning on Gibbs, although it is occupied by a non plackered parker, 75% of the time. Java's will happily call to report them, if you let them know.

Stopped in while in Rochester, friend said it was her favorite coffee shop. I had the chia tea both cold and hot (I went two times in a weekend) both the cold and hot were delicious. The spot is super cool and with lots of artwork. They serve coffee, tea, espresso, and some food. I did not get any food because they weren't open.

Service was excellent both times. Would go back for sure more but I don't live around the area.

Late night birthday iced hot chocolate for my friend and one iced hot chocolate with espresso or a "chocolate sich". Love espresso! Sat outside. Just a nice time.
