Finally!!! A great coffee place down by the Riverfront. Beautifully restored rail station; much nicer than it used to be when the last place closed a decade ago. Very nice staff and excellent breakfast and brunch choices. Lemon poppy scones are first rate. This is definitely going on the local cycling route as a cafe stop.

A converted old train station building I think. Literally next to the tracks but don't let the sound of an occasional train prevent you from enjoying this dining experience. I apologize up front for my food photo. It was a long day, I was famished, and I ate half before I even remembered to take the shot. I almost didn't include it but it was sooooo good. The service was excellent. Google reservations works flawlessly. It is not a big place and all the tables were reserved when I was there so I strongly recommend making reservations. Great casual dining at a reasonable rate especially in this region. I would definitely come here again.

Came here for dinner on my sisters birthday and the vibes were immaculate! We sat at the bar which was beautiful and well stocked.
The service was outstanding, Dom, Ash, Aaren, Jess, made the experience 10x better. Even the bussers were incredibly sweet and helpful. The chef personally brought out our food and wished my sister a happy birthday. Their food is great but the seasonal menu is out of this world. I dream about the mushroom burrata toast and bread pudding. We forgot a candle and our server Aaren personally brought us one from her car! Would highly recommend this place.

Cute little cafe just by the train station. I took a random ride to Peekskill and had brunch here while waiting for a return train to Manhattan.

The service was good and the food was fresh and tasty, great coffee. Very peaceful place, This will definitely be a regular brunch plan. The lounge side of this cafe opens at midday, I’ll try it next time.

We took the train to Peekskill to map a future commute. It was cold, and a cafe at the station is just what the doctor would have ordered! The staff were welcoming, the cafe homely, and the breakfast great! There were these blueberry pop tarts(?) on the counter that literally call you🎊! I look forward to my next ride.

Cute place, quick service, decent coffee and food. But what are these cups and lids that are so leaky and ill-fitting. I would prefer not to wrap my cup in Kleenex and death grip the lid just to take a sip of coffee. Some better sealing to go cups would be appreciated.

This place is worth a try if you happen to be at Peekskill train station when you are hungry.

It has a nice interior, which is bright. Staff members are friendly and helpful. The Brunch Bravas I ordered exceeded my expectations. As for drinks, I had a matcha latte, which was definitely better than the many coffee shops.

Overall, I had a good experience.

Helpful staff and cozy feeling space. Service was excellent I will be returning to try other menu items. This go around the Serrano ham and Brie sandwich was excellent.

The Central is awesome! Bar with a patio on one side, cafe and coffee shop on the other. Such a beautiful addition to the Peekskill waterfront and train station. The bar is opened late on the weekends. Cool brunch spot with delicious food too. A little pricey but it’s worth it because of convenience, quality, and vibe. Staff is great too. Looking forward to more fun times here!

Menu Notables:
1. The Morrocan Chicken Sandwich is the fan favorite!
2. Kelly’s Burger is great
3. Patatas Bravas never disappoints

Peekskill Exurbanist

The Central has quickly become one of our Peekskill favorites. What was for years an abandoned train station has been reborn as a dawn to dusk hub for caffeine, food, and booze.

Architecturally, the depot has been lovingly restored and reconfigured, the south side as the café and the north side as the bistro and lounge. The soaring ceilings and chandeliers add a sense of gilded age grandeur to an otherwise warm and accessible space. Bonus: a split-flap Vestaboard in the café is a cool reminder that you're in a train station (well, along with the regularly passing trains).

Food and drink wise: the café hits the mark with coffee drinks powered by local roasts from Peekskill Coffee. There's a selection of fresh pastries available -- the biscuits with honey butter always hit the spot. There's also quick service provisions that are pre-made and reheated for commuters on the go. The Pickle & Pig or the Avocado Toast are our personal picks from the provisions menu.

The bistro side is where the food and drink really shine. Every dish off the bistro menu is a hit, although we're partial to the Fernet Pork Ribs and the Moroccan Chicken Sandwich. The menu is subtly infused with Mediterranean flavors that make it stand out from other options in town. (Tip: you can order from the bistro menu after noon, even if you're in the café)

The lounge is home to an evolving list of creative cocktails. Our current obsession: the Cashmere --a boozy mix of rye, green tea, sweet vermouth, and Fernet served in the most stylish little glass.

In the spirit of transparency: we did help The Central with their branding and graphic design, so it makes us happy to know we genuinely love the experience. Great addition to Peekskill!
