It started out great, the person who seated us was extremely friendly and inviting. When we got our food it was extremely dry and salty. A server asked if we'd like a box and we refused, she then shrugged her shoulders and walked off. When paying she made a comment about one person in our party which was very rude and uncalled for. I will not be returning.

Awesome family owned restaurant. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic!!

Not a great first impression as the bartender was quite unpleasant. I understand she was busy, but she was short and made us feel like we were bothering her by asking what kind of wine was available. That encounter ruined the dinner for us unfortunately.

“I have never been to a crowded restaurant and got my food in 20 minutes. It was top notch in my book. Next time you are in Old Forge stop by The Mill.” Logan, age 7, ordered the burger and fries
*The fries are perfect- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.

Landed here during a busy 4th of July weekend. Being just outside the town it wasn't terribly busy and we got in immediately. Drinks and food are excellent. Got a whiskey ginger, glass of cabarnet, a white Russian for drinks and all were very well done. For food we tried the deep fried devil eggs, the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich, and the lobster tacos. The sandwich was one of my favorite chicken sandwiches I've ever had and I've had a lot of great ones. This one was saucy and crispy, thick piece of tender chicken. The deviled eggs were also good, I'd say the least impressive, pretty typical but again well made. The tacos were big and fresh ingredients including the lobster. Price is justified imo. 5/5, 9.7/10 I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Tried the Special 1/2 rack of ribs. They fell off the bone, so tender. But they were so spicy hot I couldn't eat to many. My mouth and tongue were burning real bad. I did how ever bring them home because they were so tender, I will scrape off the spicy rub and try to wash them and put some sweet baby rays on them.

Hello Fellow Google Map Explorer(s) ;
This is Another....(Yeah lol, you guessed it!), Childhood Memory Maker Destination for Me Growing Up Except Back Then I Remember It As "The Old Mill" & I remember they almost always had the restaraunt staple,The Big Wooden-Wheel, spining around with the slight sound of the water clashing with it's paddles which in turn "Made The Magic Happen".
It was always a must hit on the way outta town type of tradition, which became a fond memory and eventually to what it feels like today, 2022, roughly 25 years from my first visit,.which is personal & hard to explain without a life story so we'll skip that hyperbole & just say I gave "The Old Mill" which is what I will forever know this establishment's name to be, a 4 out of 5.
Now even though I can remember happy times here , or that the name was changed to
"The Mill" in Old Forge, NY, it just didnt give me the same appeal as it once did whether 24.5yrs ago or last summer when we passed it as coming into town. And even if their are new owners, the old name for "The Old Mill" suited it well for quite some time. Just saying : )
As far as the food, it was delicious as far as mine was concerned & I didn't hear any complaints from our 4 guest table besides the bartender may of been new necause i know what a "Captain Morgan Rum & Coke" tastes like, watered down or heavy handed and this was neither of the sort so I left the mishap untold because it really wasnt that dramatic you know? lol.. I mean the hospitality industry is a hard, labor riddled jposition, per your title in most cases, I've been there busting my hump after 2 am on a New Years Day after ringing in the New Years Eve holiday washing dishes, taking out bags upon bags of trash for minimal pay compared to some other positions which lets just say rely on the underpaid half of the operation in order to make some of the insanely overpaid amounts in comparison to ours, but hey thats the way it is & not the industry/position to carry on long term unless your a passionate & talented head chef making the expensive , smartly garnished entrees that demand $30++ per plate, or in someway an owner as in a franchise or small restaraunt owner with a seasonal niche.
We sat on the front deck as we drove over 50 miles just for this meal you see so naturally we were the 2nd party in line for opening time of 4pm. I had the Shepards Pie which I know sounds blandish or blah to some of you but even though its quite the ordinary made meal, I've never had it before so I did. My relative was surprised to see me finish everything on my plate for once lol. The waitress was nice..
I would suggest some type of music at opening, at least in the bar area..Really grab what you can for the last of the 2022 Summer Crowd..And maybe just an additional quick make vegetable option for the elderly or over picky patrons im sure you'll receive..My mom is basically the latter of the two described above & she couldnt have either choice because of digestive issues so she was a little bummed.. But Great Job despite what The Covid Epidemic did to most major industries, especially the Food/Hospitality industry.
P.S....I just wanted to mention the neat, multi - colored , adult sized "Connect Four" style game put outside in the front tree line. I noticed the bartender either bringing it out or setting it up as he became free after your 4pm opening I wanted to say its a great idea, great game pick but not the best situated place on the restraraunt's property for a safe, fun family &/or bar goer aimed recreation. My son loved it and he's 2.5yrs old but with it being so close to the main road into town, in/out, I was unable to put him down to play properly...Or at least try to with a wild 2yr. old lol! Just sayin..
But thanks for a good meal and new experience.

The Mill Wick sandwich was fantastic. Others in my group got lobster tacos and country fried steak. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The bar has a nice selection of beer and cider on tap.
There can be a bit of a wait but it's with it. The host gives accurate wait times.

Nothing beats The Mill in Old Forge! The food is always excellent and the service is first class no matter how busy the restaurant is. The young owner has put together a team that delivers a consistently great experience for dinner, drinks, or both! Highly recommended.
