Best coffee shop in Durango. Sweet, authentic, artsy vibe, amaaaaaazing snacks (try the rose pistachio scone - you will be so happy you did!) and great drinks. This is a community-oriented place that supports local art. Such a great addition to downtown!

Excellent coffee shop with lovely staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Coffee and teas were delicious. We had muffins, cookies, and a grilled cheese sandwich, all very good.

Great coffee in a relaxed environment! Courtyard is great too!

A great coffee shop! Very nice atmosphere, dog friendly inside, unique menu, and good food! I'm very glad I stumbled upon this place going through town.

Friendly staff and amazing coffee and breakfast options! A very welcome addition to the Durango scene. Definitely will visit each time I'm in town.

I don't leave many reviews online, but after reading the few absurd bad reviews for this amazing little cafe hut ("my husband could have had a reaction to the undercooked potato"š), I feel the need to correct the record.
This place is outstanding. It's as if a gentle hippie took over a panera bread and made it actually good.
I've tried the grilled cheese and the banana sunflower sandwich, and they were delicious! the bread was soo good. To drink I've tried the maca goddess and one of the carbonated drinks (cardamom!) and they were unique and refreshing.
This place is worth a trip to the hot springs, and is accessible even if you're not soaking.
*HIGHLY* recommend, unless you like boring soulless food š

We got there and the only other people in the store were putting up art. We ordered 3 burritos, coffee, hot chocolate, and sat down. It took over 25 minutes to get 2 of the burritos, and we never got the third. We finally left after 35 minutes and I sucked up the cost of the third burrito. The coffee was average, and we finished it before we even got our food. This was our first and last visit to Mountain Monk. I wish it were still a Starbucks.

First visit there and would not recommend it. Ordered a straight forward hot latte to go. No lid provided for the drive and was room temperature at best. Overpriced and disappointing, will definitely be trying other coffee stores in town while visiting here

Amazing local cafe with great brews, snacks and live musical gatherings of the best kind. Highly recommended.
