Had breakfast there with the family. Food was great and nice portion sizes. But, our waitress was a hoot. She made the whole experience great.

Simple, inexpensive food. Opens early for breakfast, great place to stop if you have an early flight to Isle Royale from the Grand Marais airport.

Jenni Schaefer

Great food! Excellent staff, small little diner with a hometown feel.

Greg Pierce

Always consistent. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Great for breakfast. While the selection may not be as large as other places the value is great.

Very good food ! Nice quaint little place, nothing fancy, just the way I like it, it fits into the community up there just right,

OMG! One hour wait for a merely adequate omelette. One crabby waitress, one waitress who was enabling the crabby waitress. She blamed the poor service on "a small kitchen."

Completely unacceptable.

I don't care how good the food might be. Next time I am in Grand Marais, I will try the Blue Water Cafe nearby.

South of the border refers to the Canadian border (not mexican food). Surprisingly good Small town diner...

Always a great breakfast at South of the Border. Their omelets are great, filled generously with good stuff! This is our go-to breakfast place when we visit Grand Marais.
