Had a great paddle out to turnip rocks

Had an amazing trip Kayaking. We rented kayaks for 4 hours and made it to Turnip rock, the caves, and the light house. We had to hustle a bit on our way back from the light house but it was a great time to explore! I recommend this trip to anyone who wants an amazing day on one of the great lakes.
The renting process was also an ease. The whole process was super smooth and the merchandise inside was really cool! The beer garden next door and outdoor games added to the atmosphere in such a rich and positive way!

The kayaking trip was great! We finished the trip to turnip rock in less than 2 hours.
Here’s what sucked:
• the waves at/around turnip rock we’re really crazy
• the lady at the front desk who went over the waiver was rude/mean. She also worked inside the store too at the register. Her tone was awful, and she did not help us at all.
•We paid for a 4-hour trip and did it in 2 hours. We did not get a refund for the extra 2 hours. We ended up wasting a lot of money.
Would I do the trip again? Yes, but not through Port Austin Kayak and Bike :)

I have wanted to do a turnip rock trip for the better part of two years. Due to lack of time from work and school I haven’t been able to swing it This summer I put it on the top of my priority list due to a small drive from south east Michigan it is tough to plan to just a day trip with the weather and all. I called them several times and was always met with a friendly staff member despite having my own gear. Upon arrival they provided maps tips and information about Port Austin. Then we departed again we had our own gear but the staff launched our boat for us. We made it to the rock in about 45 minutes with a tandem sea kayak. It was absolutely gorgeous I would recommend a long sleeve shirt or bug spray bugs as when there’s no wind they can be quite irritating. The sun came out and the rock was gorgeous. We swam enjoyed a quick lunch, beers and took some pictures before heading back. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff again who helped us out of our boat. We unloaded and went into the shop where we found an excellent collection of outdoors good and were again greeted by more of the very friendly staff. They helped me find a few goodies including some Saxx underwear(which I highly recommend and a hydro flask). We will definitely be back to do a paddle rod trip to broken rock. I was very impressed with their staff and rental boats and would put them as one of the top adventure outfitters in the state. I highly recommend visiting port Austin canoe and kayak!

Easy rental online. Staff was friendly and helpful. Was greatful for the east winds or I might not have made it back.
Worth the paddle to Turnip Rock and the caves. Make sure to check out the flat rock behind Turnip rock. It teeter totters in the waves.

Cancelled our trip, when I was texted they said potentially cancelled. Upon my own investigation it was actually cancelled. This was the night before and I already traveled half the distance there. I went anyways to use the e-bikes. Staff was stuck on their phone a bit. They did a good job going over the bikes though. The brakes on one of the bikes were not good. Safety issue even though it was the off brake. The cashier in the kayak shop was busy flirting with a waitress from the restaurant to help anyone. I was looking for a hat with a PAK logo and he dug a dusty one out from underneath another one and handed it to me. Very ridable area but sadly nothing to look at. You can't see the water, the city is small and not welcoming.

We were initially concerned that it would be too much for two mid-seventyish women, but it was a perfect trip for us - not hard at all. Sea caves very doable as well. What a great and helpful staff.
