Took a last minute trip up to Port Austin area and had a great experience this past weekend. This company was fantastic with communication and expectations of the route. Kayaks were clean and ready to go. All staff we interacted with were super kind. Definetly would recommend and will be back.

We've been here twice and have had nothing but stellar service. Employes are knowledgeable and helpful. Easy to book a kayak trip and no problem getting out on the water as soon as we arrived! Had an absolute blast kayaking - water is translucent! Definitely worth a couple trips every summer here when the weather is good.

Had a great time. Kayaks were prepped and ready for us when we arrived, just had to get in and got a free push off the ramp. Fairly easy trip to and from Turnip Rock. Staff was good about warning us that inclement weather would make the trip back a little more difficult. We had some choppy water and couple big waves to contend with but nothing crazy. Will be back.

Awesome experience. Took almost 3 hours to cover Turnip Rock and Sea Cave. Kayaks are better than other places I tried before, staffs were very friendly.

We had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and well mannered while communicating safety and directions. The equipment was in good shape. Our route to Turnip Rock was an easy few miles. We were exhausted and sunburned after returning, but had a great time and would visit again.

I’ve been here twice, once in Summer 2019 and once in July 2021. It’s a great time. Setting up a reservation is easy, staff is friendly, kayaks were safe, and the view was beautiful. It’s a little pricey for kayak rentals as it wasn’t a guided tour, but it’s still a good activity for the Port Austin area. I do like that they update their Twitter first thing in the morning so you know if you’re able to go out on the water or not in case conditions are bad (it’s Michigan so you never know). There are some rocks near turnip rock that you can get out onto to take pictures. Highly recommend as a date activity or friend/family trip. PAK’s backyard which is a restaurant and bar attached to where you rent kayaks had really good food and drinks. Try the holy water cocktail!

I went up with a group after Labor Day, hoping it wouldn't be too busy. It wasn't. The first two days were cancelled due to weather, but we went out the third day. The water was surprisingly shallow in many spots and I got stuck in some rocks. Staff at Port Austin Kayak & Bike were not easy to get hold of, but were polite and very helpful when we did make contact. For a newbie, this was a very easy trip (my second kayak trip ever) and taking a picnic lunch for eating at Turnip Rock was superb! PAKs was closed, so there was no post adventure celebration there. In fact, nearly everything in the area was closed during the week. I would most certainly recommend this company (good equipment, safe) and this trip, just go before Labor Day and plan for cancellations due to weather.
We also rented a bicycle one day. Affordable, fitted the rider to his large size, and provided the helmet. Easy to find, work with, and would recommend them. Their recommended bike routes were on streets. I wonder how busy those streets are during tourist season?

The best kayaking experience and very friendly staff.
The kayaks were very clean, organized and easy to book and reschedule or cancel.
We had to do it 3 times due to weather and they are very prompt on updating their Twitter account..
Totally worth it

Super friendly staff! Our day rained and they let us reschedule to the next day without any hesitation or problems. The water here in Port Austin is absolutely gorgeous! Even though it was cold I couldn't help but jump in! Awesome kayaking experience! Wish we could have done it all day!

Absolutely incredible time here. The website is professional and simple to navigate. I was able to easily make a quick reservation for a few kayaks. However, the weather was really bad when the day came along (Michigan, right?) and they called me promptly at 8am to tell me that the water wasn't safe and they'd be canceling my rsvp with a full refund. Classy people.
I made a second reservation for a week later and couldn't be happier. It was a beautiful summer day, the kayaks were in great shape with plenty of places to stash food and drinks, and the coastline up to turnip rock was awesome.
I can't recommend this company highly enough.
