Super friendly and quick service. We got the honey bee latte and lavender white mocha - both very good! I ordered an iced latte but received it hot. Not a problem for me either way because I like both, but just make sure to specify!

I love people who are passionate about their work, and was so impressed by Kirsten who explained the entire history and process of pour over to me as she made my order. She was super knowledgeable and friendly and it made me enjoy my already delicious coffee that much more! Overall a great space to hang out or get work done, with plenty of seating and a large shady patio. I'll definitely be back!

Delicious coffee, delightful atmosphere, and potentially the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. Definitely a go-to for good coffee in Ann Arbor

Cool ambiance but subpar coffee and ac cold enough to deter you from staying too long. Ordered a latte that was pretty much warm milk w a hint of espresso. I have never had latte so weak. I tried studying inside but the ac was blowing so cold that I eventually walked out and threw away the cup of milk along the way.

My favorite coffee shop. I never take time out to write reviews unless a place is 5 stars or zero. I'm not a coffee expert like many people who have commented here. My goal is a hot cup of coffee at a fair price and a good place to drink it. This place has free refills on in-house regular coffee, and I can tell it's not gas-station coffee, which I also drink. They seem to work hard to make sure the people who work there are friendly and welcoming of anyone who walks through the door. In a town full of eccentrics (like me) it is great to see a place where all are welcome.

Fantastic fresh roasted coffee beans available here for your espresso or pour over! My new fav place to purchase coffee and coffee beans.

I live right down the road, so I couldn’t believe I had never been to Black Diesel before! I love this place. There’s a great selection of single-origin, pour-over coffees as well as other coffee & tea options. They also serve a variety of foods from their menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks (breakfast and baked goods are served all day). All of the packaged coffees they sell are local (most are from Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company) and smell amazing. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, and their customer service rules. The environment employs a cool, 1950’s diner-style/industrial vibe. With a variety of music playing in the background, Black Diesel is quiet enough for studying/working or for professional meetings; At the same time, it’s vibrant enough for meeting up with friends. I will definitely be coming back!

The quality of the espresso drinks completely depends on who's working. They can be mediocre or very good. The atmosphere is nice but feels more like a chain than a local coffee shop.

Paid $7 for a small iced latte with soy that was just ok. Nothing amazing, definitely not with that price. Also disappointed I couldn’t get an iced coffee - I guess they only do cold brew. I prefer Roos or York and those are just around the corner.

The coffee is excellent! I go in the morning before work-so I've only tried their breakfast pastries, but they're pretty decent as well. Prices are kind of high, but nothing outrageous. I would give them a higher rating except for their customer service. For someone who faithfully visits before work it is a little frustrating how short staffed they often are. The people working there are friendly enough-but it's annoying when I'm late to work because the barista behind the counter wants to have a long conversation with someone instead of doing their job. I understand the importance of building a rapport with customers but there's a fine line between that and neglecting to do your job. Plus, I feel like they often have a rush around 9am-so I would expect them to have more people behind the counter.
