Black Diesel Coffee

One of the better coffee shops in Ann Arbor. Expect strong coffee, just like the name. Phenomenal pour-over options. Don't expect lunch, but pastries, gelato, and take-away sandwiches. New rewards program tied to your phone number.

I like this place. The drinks are good, and I enjoy the Indonesian roast that I bought for home brewing. I really want this place to last. My only gripe is that my Americano and my espresso seemed to be served at a cooler temperature than I'd expect / prefer.

Stopped in for a quick but pricey snack on my way to an important meeting. Coffee was just ok, and the paper cup leaked on me. Lemon scone was delicious.

Just moved here from Colorado and this was the first place I got coffee at. I got an iced latte with honey and lavender and it was bomb. Everyone was really nice. This will definitely be my go to.

I've been to this coffeeshop a number of times - most of the experiences has been positive. Stylish setting and strong brews define the establishment. However, tables are frequently dirty and costs are borderline extravagant. For example, my wife doesn't like coffee and will frequently get a steamer, which here costs 4 and change, the highest price out of our regular coffeeshops.

Poor attitude and service. Expensive capuccino and pastries. Poor and small selection on pastries. No soft butter croissant except the Zingerman's with hard shell that breaks apart on the table, embarassing us. Owner doesn't care about customers' wish for pastry selections. Staff are selectively nice. Some greet, some don't. Owner replied they have a nice pastry selection and they listen to customers. Sadly, that's patently false. Good service is ALWAYS a hit or miss. Just today (09/15/2017) Katie did not acknowledge me and was too busy playing with her tablet instead. She refused to turn up the music's volume and said twice it's on. Then she ignored me AGAIN and kept playing with her tablet. Unbelievable. I left without making a purchase. Not catering to professionals and mature customers. I called the owner's cell phone, but he doesn't care to pick up although I announce my name on his announcer. Unfortunate. Not a good business to support.

The Black Diesel team is giving this location the old college try. The coffee I've had there is excellent, the place is pleasant, and the staff equally so. Parking remains a real challenge at this location, which is the only reason I don't go more often. If I was in the neighborhood, I'd definitely be walking over to Black Diesel on a regular basis.

Fairly good coffee and a nice ambiance, but probably 20% more expensive than the better coffee shops in town. Go for the patio seating and easy parking, but expect to pay for it

Excellent coffee, nice associates, quite place to work or study. Adding a rewards program will make it better place

Good quality espresso at all times, creative specials, and a nice atmosphere make this a regular stop for me. Their focus is on pour over and espresso coffee, so as long as you stick to those drinks there will be no disappointments.
