Food is average for price (appetizer tasted freezer burned). Seating is stupid tight (got bumped the whole night by the people sitting behind me).

Love this place! I recommend the butternut squash ravioli!!! So delicious & the sauce was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Always excellent food and terrific drinks! Wonderful staff, friendly and accommodating!

We came into town late on a Wednesday night and they got us in 15 minutes before closing.

Service was great, atmosphere was nice, and we all ordered pizzas which were delicious. Crust was a little thicker than I like but the leopard spotting, crispness and open crumb with a hint of sourdough was very satisfying.

We had a daily special pizza with sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, and a honey oil that was absolutely amazing.

The rest of the menu looks very good and we will definitely need to come back.

Nice place for dining. Good quality of service and food. Espresso could’ve been better but the pasta and dessert were nice.

I've been to basta at least 5 times and while the service is always good, the food is so inconsistent that I've stopped going. Last time I went the burrata was basically just a ball of fresh mozzarella and the pizza was very bland. I recommend going for drinks and drinks only.

I had their monthly (?) special "Spaghetti Alla Putanesca" which may or may not be there anymore by the time most of you read this. Great stuff! Strong savory flavor. The pasta was made with squid ink to be black. Pasta was al-dente and perfect.

The bread roll is...just a plain bread roll with hard skin. Could have done without it.

My table service was adequate.

Great local flavor. The tomato bisque was excellent. Nice view of University of Iowa capitol building. Lobster pizza was a treat

My favorite restaurant in Iowa City! Excellent fresh pasta (my favorite is the chicken fettuccini), good cocktails, and my husband loves the pizza and steak. Also the nutella creme brulee is divine. The wait staff is always excellent and very attentive and the service as the bar is just as excellent as the table servers. I have been here countless times and love it every time!

Update: we just had their brunch for the first time and it was fantastic! We had the arancini bologense, Nutella French toast, and the burger which were all excellent. Looking forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes. 😀
