Basta Pizzeria Ristorante

We probably didn't go at the best time-lunch during the week but I wasn't super impressed. Things were either over or under seasoned. My bun was over toasted and I really disliked the fries that came on the side. I would have rather had a choice of soup or salad.

This pizza was very good. We didn't have a reservation, so we had to sit at the bar. The service was awesome. Those girls hustle. I would definitely go back but maybe not for pizza this time and definitely make a reservation.

The entree (eggplant parmesan)was definitely mediocre in my opinion but many other people from Iowa City enjoy coming here.

The burrata with tomato jam was delicious though and they have mocktails. I had the orange creamsicle and that was a delight.

All of the food here is supreme. I had two of their sandwiches and I never wanted it to end. Their salad was good with a tasty house dressing. I would highly recommend.

We enjoyed Sunday brunch at Basta recently and it was fantastic! Ciara provided amazing service to us and the food was wonderful. Definitely stop by for a fun and yummy experience.

Basta is an Iowa City staple that has reasonably good food, a warm and inviting ambiance, and friendly staff. I've come here on two occasions and have left both times satisfied with my experience. The food is good but nothing mind blowing and I feel it is slightly overpriced for what you get but otherwise i was very happy with my latest visit. An upgrade from your local Olive Garden.

Fresh pasta? Yes please. I am not a native to Iowa. But, if possible, I will make an effort to visit this establishment. You can smell the wood fire pizza oven upon entry and it just sets the tone, immediately. The sausage and orecchiette is amazing. Just the right amount of spice in a cream sauce with kale. Sooo so good!

This seems like a very nice place to take a date to. Great staff and a better atmosphere than most restaurants. The appetizers were very good.

Went there for lunch today and my daughter and I enjoyed our meals. I had the eggplant parmesan with a lovely tomato bisque. My daughter enjoyed her Chicken Alfredo and bitt salad. Our waitress was attentive, the bathrooms were even charming, altogether a nice experience. Pictures really do no justice.
