Stomping Grounds Cafe

Lose a star because they fail to ask me how I want my tea brewed. Sometimes it isn’t how the tea is supposed to be brewed by the book, but how the customer likes it.

The service was very good, the food was okay. I had a veggie quiche which was a bit bland for me. The beverages were very good.

I like going here to pick up coffee or to sit and work for a bit during the day. They close down later in the afternoon to convert to the Italian restaurant. The staff are friendly and quick and the coffee is very good quality.

Bar La Tosca will always have a special place in my heart. I love the pasta here, I miss the lamb fusilli especially.

I had a decent experience at Stomping grounds. The server seemed to be new and not be well informed about the menu. The server started off to be very attentive but the service waned. Drink orders were promptly taken and came out quickly. Overall, of the whole experience, everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks (one mojito, two moscow mules, and a margarita).
When we asked for simple modifications when ordering our entrees the server could not answer if this was possible. Modifications are pretty standard at these sort of restaurants so I am not sure why this was not easily feasible. When the food came, I was incredibly underwhelmed. I ordered the burger that came with a side "salad." It was simply just tossed greens in a mediocre salad dressing. The burger did not come together with the hot sauce and the gruyere cheese. My friend ordered the winter greens salad and commented that it was "the worst salad she ever had." I had a bite and that was suffice. It had little, to no flavor. Another guest commented that her pasta was undercooked. The rest of the experience was fine, I empathize with the server who seemed new but perhaps some help from management would have eased her stress. I would recommend this restaurant for drinks but not for dinner.

TLDR: great for pictures, not so much for eating

Their breakfast menu is small and what cafe charges for refills of coffee? The service was very slow and inconsiderate. It took nearly half an hour to even get our food order taken. We then waited another half hour for the lukewarm food to arrive and then another half hour to eat. In the total 1.5 hours we wasted we weren’t offered drink refills a single time. The food was alright but would’ve been better if it wasn’t so clear that it had been sitting for a while. Thoroughly disappointed.

I expected there to be a much better breakfast menu. They only offer poached eggs and refuse to cook them any other way, which I think is very odd. The ambiance is nice, it is clean and the staff is friendly for the most part. Overall, I don't think it's worth the money.

Strictly coffee for me now.

After coming for breakfast today (we usually chose provisions or the cafe) it was very disappointing. Biscuits and gravy looks like dog food and didn't have too much for taste. Egg bake almost had no taste where there wasn't cheese (which was everywhere but the middle). It all tasted dry and underseasoned. Their coffee is good and what I normally get whenever I'm there but oh man the food is despicable. Also the prices for these meals is ridiculous. To poached eggs for $4 is crazy. Then the normal meal is small portions for 11+

Guess I'll stick to my normal restaurant from now on.

Service is great, it's a little hidden gem but once you find it you'll keep going back. Food is great and coffee is a killer.

Went there on Monday and had a pleasant night studying and a very good BLT. Came back again Wednesday at the same time (7:00pm) and the service was horrible. I tried ordering a BLT again and was told that they didn't serve those for dinner. Even though two days before I ordered it no problem. On Monday I ordered before 7:30pm and Wednesday I attempted to order a BLT at 7:00pm. Have no clue how they could serve it to me Monday but not Wednesday. So I told her I needed more time to think and she promptly disappeared for about 40 minutes. We actually had to go get her from the counter to take our order. After we had finished eating she picked up our plates and asked if we were ready for the check. We told her yes and she then disappeared again for another 30 minutes. Completely ridiculous.
