The Chocolate Moose-Brown County

Need some caffeine? Then this is the spot folks! The Chocolate Moose features Brown County Coffee which us roasted by them. They also have an outstanding Hot Chocolate; my wife's favorite. They also offer ice cream, pastries and sandwiches. It's a real nice place to sit down and relax and even meet some friends.

We arrived the evening of Columbus Day.
The staff handled the high influx of customers superbly!
Loved the homemade brown county coffee!

Nice place.
Had a Coney dog.
What else is there to say.
They probably should follow the food code a little more closely.

We came here for the wonderful sandwiches they have. The turkey melt and the ham and cheese were delicious. Everything is made to order and fresh. The ice cream is what they are know for and it's fabulous, no matter what flavor you choice.

My wife and I each ordered sundaes. This is a review of mine (although she was disappointed with hers).

I ordered the chocolate explosion sundae.

First the good...

1. It looked like it did in the picture
2. It was a generous portion

Now the not-so-great...

1. The chopped up brownies that were part of the sundae tasted awful - not sure what was wrong with them, but didn't taste like any brownie bits I've ever had. Threw the taste of the whole thing off.
2. It seemed as though they used an artificial whipped topping instead of REAL dairy whipped cream - cool whip in a can should not go on a $6 small sundae.
3. They may have advertised Hershey's chocolate syrup as a topping and I missed it, but I definitely expected thick hot fudge - the two are not the same.

Beyond the mediocre sundae, I need to comment on the cleanliness of this place.

1. The front door was filthy - it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a couple weeks - it almost turned us off immediately.
2. The floor that we could see as customers was filthy as well - this always concerns me about what the parts I can't see looked like.

Finally:

1. The guy that took our order was eating ice cream AS we approached the counter. May not seem like a big deal - and it may not have been - but with everything else, it made it seem like a very sloppily run business.

I REALLY don't like giving this kind of review, because Chocolate Moose Bloomington was a big part of my childhood, and I always loved them.

Cute little place next to a gas station. Kinda hard to find if your aren't looking for it but amazing none the less! Super fresh ingredients and a friendly staff

The ice cream was phenomenal. I had a sundae and my husband had a milkshake. He said it was the best he has ever had. Will definitely keep coming here on our Nashville trips

They did it right. Nice place and it has more than "chocolate".

Friendly staff. My wife had a Moose Horn and I had a Homemade Chocolate Shake. Just be aware that if you get the homemade shake it is extremely rich. Both items were very good.

Very good , friendly workers, but a little pricey. Still very good!
