Stan's Donuts & Coffee

EDIT: Management reached out and generously refunded my growler purchase and even threw in some extra donuts for the trouble. I've edited my review score to reflect how professionally they handled the situation. Well done, Stan's.

I am normally a huge fan of Stan's Donuts (and this location) but today was a different story. I stopped in for a cold brew growler refill and what I received was essentially a jug of water with a shot of coffee in it. Since I have a growler and refill it on a fairly often basis, I know what Stan's cold brew is like - it's typically dark in color and very strong on the caffeine hit. What I was given today has essentially zero flavor and is no darker than a cup of tea. If you've got a problem with your cold brew keg, that's fine - but don't go selling bad product to customers (especially $10 growler refills) and act like everything is above board. Very disappointing and a complete waste of money; after a few sips I just dumped it in the sink.

The donuts are great! Last year we moved out of Illinois, but we visit family whenever we can. This time we stayed in Oak Brook while we were back in town, and the kids were excited that it was close to our hotel. Our son has Celiac and we always call ahead to have them hold a half dozen chocolate gf donuts for us - when we lived in Illinois this is how we always ordered them. Today, when I called ahead they were being difficult about me calling in the order. The young lady told me that I have to use the app. I explained that we are from out of town and we were told to call ahead for gf donuts. She continued to lecture me that they were too busy for phone orders. I guess I was being scolded and she was satisfied with herself, because she agreed to put them aside for me. A different young lady helped us when we got there and she was excellent. She was friendly and did not make a big deal about the phone order. So we bought another dozen and a half. Her excellent service is why I gave four stars instead of three for our visit this morning.

Service was great, but the donuts are why you come. No disappointment in the slightest here. An awesome treat.

Prices are high, lots of other places with great donuts. Lots of variety, decor is delightful

This isn’t about the food, it’s about the customer service.
I ordered a latte and a donut. The girl taking my order wasn’t friendly at all but okay, I’m not here to make friends. She said they’d call when the coffee was ready.
15 minutes later, I finally go up to the counter to politely ask about it as I never heard my name called. She sees me, turns around and goes into the back.
I tell another girl working I never received my coffee. She then begins to make it in front of me which tells me they completely forgot it.
Things happen, but a simple “I’m sorry I forgot” would have been fine instead of being completely ignored.
Every employee working today is disinterested and unfriendly. If you hate your job that much, get a new one instead of taking it out on the customers. Wish I could take my tip back.

When I am able to get a chance to try these delicious doughnuts...I always stop. One of the best doughnuts shops. I got the chocolate filled with peanut butter doughnut. It was delicious. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Delicious!! Too bad I live down in Indiana! The lemon pistachio was incredible!

Drive thru service was great. There were a lot more options than I expected. The donuts were ok. We got there later in the morning so maybe we missed the fresh ones. We got a few different flavors and they were all a bit dry. Cinnamon was definitely the family favorite.

This location always has great customer service and is a pleasant experience. Food and coffee is always good. Sometimes they have a guy taking orders out in the drive thru outside, he is very helpful and friendly. He deserves some extra recognition and is a pleasant way to start the day!
