Canopy + the Roots Coffee

This place is super cute and has a great vibe. The 2 stars is because despite clearly having an espresso machine with frothing wand as well as espresso and milk options on the menu, they do not offer any espresso based drinks due to not being a “commercial kitchen.” They do, however, offer drip coffee, but I would imagine it is not super fresh considering it is a big carafe of coffee just sitting there. If they were able to offer fresh coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, etc. they would take themselves to the next level.

You have to visit Canopy + the Roots! It is one of the best and most unique places I’ve been to. The owners and staff are so kind and welcoming, and the coffee, treats, yoga classes, and weekly events are so great.

I love the atmosphere here. I highly recommend the vanilla drip over ice. I love sweet coffee that still tastes like coffee but isn't too bitter and this really hit the spot. I would recommend using a hot spot if you have one because the wifi from UNG doesn't always reach. :) Great place!

Fun little coffee shop. I had a black light roast drip and my wife had a latte. Both got a muffin. Everything was great. Cool spot to chill to get your day going. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Amazing people! My mother and I visited here and got a wonderful tour from the hostess, Val. We were especially impressed with the atmosphere and the interior design; which is done by one of the owners. The owners are a sweet, sweet couple. We ended up leaving our keys inside and the owner had to come back and let us in (late at night) and she contacted me on her personal cell phone number. We prayed together and shared an amazing moment. Many amazing moments. We will be back, and back, and back!

Visited over the weekend and was very disappointed in my experience. Being an experienced barista, there are several things they are doing that should be done differently or explained to the customer before they get their order. My group received water down beverages, drinks without regular milk, burnt tasting coffee, etc. I was very disappointed. I was so excited to see a mom and pop coffee shop appear in our little town but it's just not worth the money spent. I do give them kudos on the friendly staff there and the clean environment during these times.

Canopy + the Roots is one of my FAVORITE places to get coffee and study in Dahlonega! Their staff is always so kind and friendly, the atmosphere is calming, and not to mention their coffee is so amazing!

Got a harvest latte and a cream cheese brownie - both very delicious. Prices are lower than Starbucks, and portions are smaller, but I'm personally a fan of that. The atmosphere was lovely inside, but the outside tables were also very nice, particularly during the pandemic.

I want to start by saying they have AMAZING customer service, all around very friendly staff, and the shop itself is really cool. The coffee is absolutely terrible. I ordered an iced latte, it was very dark in color which isn’t very typical for that type of drink, after I tried it I realized it had a ton of cream in it. I had made a comment that I thought it was made with cream going off of the off taste and my husband said he saw it was made with cream which was the problem (lattes are made with milk unless specified). I tried to drink it, but I honestly just couldn't so I had to toss it and ended up going to Starbucks. I love small coffee shops like this so I was very hopeful but I won’t be going back. I think they have live music and yoga there? I'm hoping that works out for them because the coffee needs a LOT of work.

Adding to this since I can't respond to the below reply. Whether your oat lattes are a #1 seller or not, I was just leaving a review with my opinion, and I did not think they were very good. As for your comment on seeing this exact review "multiple times", I'm sure by "multiple times" you mean the one other review from Yelp that is not exact as I reworded it some, but that yelp account is my account. And yes, under a different name. I left this review on more than one platform since not everyone uses Yelp for reviews. I did however add some random numbers to the end of that review on Yelp (998877) to verify that in fact it's from the same user :)

The atmosphere is like no other. From the moment you enter you feel welcomed by the friendly staff and owners. Whether it’s a great cup of coffee, a treat from a local supplier, unwinding with yoga or enjoying an evening with music in the listening room...you cannot go wrong and will not be disappointed with visiting and returning to Canopy + the Roots. So glad I visited and love, love, love my custom Dahlonega sweatshirt!
