I'm giving it 4 stars because the food was very cheap, and tasted really good. The service was pretty average, but for being the cheapest breakfast joint around it was excellent! For $4 I got 2 pancakes and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere was pretty terrible but it was a simple diner and didn't need to be anything high maintainable and special. Would highly recommend this place!

I was in downtown St Pete yesterday for an art workshop. Did a quick google search of breakfast places near by and decided on Central Coffee. I didn’t read any reviews and picked it because I wanted breakfast. I was a little surprised when I entered. It wasn’t what I was expecting for DTSP. My first thought was wow it’s an actual diner. It was nice to be someplace that wasn’t super fancy. It reminded me of the old TV show Alice and I was waiting for a redhead to pop out and say kiss my grits! The gentleman were very friendly and my food came up quick. I ordered hash, grits and eggs. The portions were huge and everything tasted delicious. Ordered my eggs over medium and they came out perfectly (no runny whites). There was enough left over that I had the rest for breakfast today. The only thing that wasn’t great for me was the coffee. I prefer a strong cup of coffee. It wasn’t a huge deal as I wasn’t coming for coffee. If you are looking for a small town diner type restaurant then this is your place. If you want an upscale setting then I’d pick someplace else.

Awesome old school diner style breakfast spot with great food at a good price point. Made me feel like I was back in North Jersey. The vibes brought me to a happy place for sure.
