Me and my girlfriend spent 10 wonderful days at this resort, it’s the first time I’ve spent my holidays here but it won’t be the last. The Villas are amazing with beautiful views of the beach and the sunset.
Comfortable beds and clean rooms. The staff was very nice and helpful, we got great service. The manager helped us with booking a helicopter tour. We borrowed their bicycles and rode around the island and took their kayaks out on the water to enjoy the sunsets.
The food and drinks were delicious. They even had European beers on tap, Stiegl.
Amazing location. Only an hour from Key West and most other places. Definitely a bit older place but spacious and has a private beach access. Best part for me was direct access to Havana Jacks and their amazing food. Only part that annoyed me was the fact one employee was a bit snippy with me about flying my drone. Other than that it was perfect. Definitely will be coming back.
Beautiful views from our oceanfront room! The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were great! Very spacious! The pool, hot tub, and other amenities were a great addition for our stay! Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again!
This hotel that claims to be a hotel & resort is really not much more than a motel. The property is old and needs updates. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk for help. After 9pm there is nobody on site to help you so you have to call someone off site to get help.
The pool is very nice and the location is great. That is what you are paying for is the location. When we got to the room there wasn't even a blanket on the bed and the room thermostat didn't work and the safe in the room didn't work.
There is no food on site or vending machines. There is an overpriced restaurant next door.
We had the corner suite in the top floor with Ocean view. The suite itself was very spacious, clean and beautiful. The kitchen was fully equipped with cutlery and everything you needed for a longer duration of stay. The resort comes with a clean private beach section, overall, a very nice location with very friendly and supportive staff. Unfortunately, the kitchenware wasn’t properly cleaned, egg rests in the pans and lipstick on some glass. Although the guests are responsible for cleaning the kitchenware, we would still recommend to double-check, especially regarding the pandemic. Also, some furniture in the room could use some TLC. Guests can use the coin-based laundry on-premise, the laundry room also needs more TLC as it was very dirty.
Good resort. The place was clean but hard to keep it clean once you go in and out to the beach because it's not carpeted flooring. We were on the ground level directly to the private beach. It was convenient and relaxing. Their pool was big and warm. The restaurant next door played live music until 11pm, so it is a good place to visit at night if you need something to do.
After spending a couple of days in Naples, our plan was to head toward the Keys with no particular agenda, except to find a nice place to stay, and relax. Running a small business, my wife and I had not taken a break since we opened our business 5 years ago.
We did some research and visited several places in Islamorada and Marathon, but didn't like any of them. When we were about to settle on a place with no beach and a very small pool, I begged my wife to let me seek out one more spot. We are very fortunate that we did, as we came across the Glunz Ocean Beach Resort!
Within minutes of walking around the property, we immediately knew that this is where we wanted to stay. Megan at the desk put us in a great room on ground level facing the beach / pool / restaurant. We also received a very nice welcome gift.
It was obvious that a lot of thoughtful care had gone into the décor of the resort. It was very clean and well maintained, and nicely appointed with an upscale, yet beach casual appearance. Our room was an ocean-view king, but included nice touches that made it special, including a microwave, coffee and a fridge. The shower was fantastic, bed was comfy and anything else we needed was simple to attain.
Our plans were to decompress and simply relax, and we found that very easy to do here. Things that stand out included an abundance of beach/pool lounge seating with umbrellas. The resort also included kayaks, bikes and fishing. Other than a day trip to Key West, we both agreed that our short time during our vacation would best be utilized staying put...and that is exactly what we did, at the pool and on the beach.
We enjoyed dinner two nights at their restaurant, and ended up there for drinks to listen and dance to a different band every night. Food and service were good! We met locals at the bar, and got to meet some very nice staff that shared their Florida Keys stories with us.
During our pool and beach time we met other couples and families from all over. Over the course of just a couple of days, we made new friends that we look forward to seeing again. Everyone that we met was so relaxed, unstressed and happy that it was as if we were all in on this amazing secret about just how wonderful the resort was. Many people spoke about how they found this fantastic, well-run gem and had been coming back for years.
Back in the cold of Cleveland, we are eager to return next year for a little bit longer stay (we stayed 4 nights). It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect, and just a bit before peak season, so it wasn't crowded at all. We didn't have to wait for anything, and our experience created a memory that will not only last a lifetime, but also really really helped us put our time together in perspective. We spend so much time working hard together in our business, that it is easy to overlook the important things like just being together and enjoying each other. Our heartfelt thanks to the Glunz resort for making our visit truly special.
Love this place!! Nice people manage this beachfront palace 👏. It was my birthday and I had a nice surprise in the room when I arrived. Thank you, staff. 😊 That is why we keep coming back for our little staycations. See you guys soon.
