Flaco's Cuban Bakery

Asked for 1 chicken and 1 beef empanada but got 2 chicken so double check your order. The empanadas were barely warm but tasted good and the pastries were amazing. Seating inside can get crowded very quickly, however outside it's much more open.

I recommend getting anything with beef. That meat was seasoned to perfection, it was so delicious. I had some beef tacos and I was eating just the tacos without any sauce. I recommend the creamy Sriracha sauce, it’s not that spicy and it goes perfectly with pretty much anything. Also, great customer service, the guy was so energetic and entertaining. Right now they have outside seating be aware of that. Indoor dining is supposed to open sometime this month.

Gator Cuban is the best sandwich i've ever eaten hands down the mix of meat portion flavor this sandwich was made with love and passion staff is just as amazing

I am sure Flaco’s has good food, but it is certainly NOT the sunshine arepa. Maybe I expected too much at 1:42 am, but the mixed veggies were truly atrocious. WHO puts broccoli and carrots in an arepa? Mixed veggies means red bell peppers and onions, not olives? Again, may have been my bad but the menu does not indicate these options and I just assumed the veggies would be consistent with Latin American veggies. Do not order the sunshine arepa.
P.S. I also got shoved into the drink machine because of a worker kicking out a rowdy customer. While I totally understand the situation, my back got really messed up by it. Order with caution.
P.P.S. My friends’ food (ropa vieja arepas) was really good though. This review is only towards the sunshine arepa.

Great food. Great vibe during Taco Tuesday and Karaoke.

Mainly go here for the arepas, bowls, and pastries. The sunshine arepa(vegatarian) or the pork arepa are my go-tos. But the sandwiches always hit! I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. If your looking for extra flavor try adding the mojo onions to you meal!

Worst place ran by a bunch of teenagers that can’t cook. Messed up my order 2X, ordered the sunrise and was only broccoli in the sandwich. No customer service.

Had tried some bites of my friend’s orders a few times and never understood the hype. Went back and tried a cuban as well as the nachos and was thoroughly impressed. Great place to grab a beer, eats some cuban food, and listen to live music in their own closed off street. 100% a must try for people new to Gainesville

flaco’s is hit or miss most of the time. the food takes unnecessarily long to make even when no one else is waiting? they sometimes forget to add sauce that you pay extra for, and they almost always forget to add utensils to your take out order. the people taking orders are usually really rude. they also never pick up the phone for orders. meh.
