The donuts are great! That's why I was there. The issue with my latest visit to this wonderful, confectionery corner was the customer service. I entered the shop and there was a man there before me buying a dozen donuts. He had a weird request for the clerk to take the doughnuts from the carton and bag them individually with paper in between each. I stood back and patiently waited for literally 8-10 minutes while she fulfilled his request. After the guy got his individually wrapped 🍩 and a super long wait, I walked up to the counter. Before I could get a word out, she tells me and a lady that came in about 5 mins after me that she was Sold Out. The previous guy bought her last dozen. This would have all been cool if she told us as soon we walked in that she sold out. Letting a customer stand and wait for 10mins when you know you're out of product is lame.

Just a all around bad experience, This place was recommended by a friend who knows I love donuts. Went in everything look nice place my order of 6 different, walk to my car and notice a string of hair, went back in the young lady replace the donut and gave me a free one. Decided to wait to eat them at home, wish I didnt if I knew they were day old donuts I would have took them back. They look good but taste stale.

Decent donuts but at Dc prices. Haven’t seen many new flavors getting released so not to say their bland but their pb&j or fluffernut one was the best and its apparently “seasonal”. Their prices have definitely gone up since the last time my family went. Great store front and atmosphere but I came for the food and it didn’t “wow” any of this time around.

Good service and nice employees. No idea how they justify these doughnuts being $4 each though. I’m sure it’s expensive to operate a store in DC, so I assume that’s why it’s so pricey, but the doughnuts were incredibly mediocre and forgettable. I don’t get the hype.

Was excited about the District's best donuts and was really disappointed. Had the brown butter and nutella creme donuts, neither of which had any flavor to the cake at all. No hint of brown butter and the nutella creme tasted like chocolate pudding without any hazelnut flavor. The everything cream cheese donut was a nice offering; savory donuts are hard to find. But it was the same flavorless cake. Lots of punch from the everything seasoning. Cream filling was fine but sparse and also flavorless. I've got no problem spending a lot of premium donuts and these missed the mark by a wide margin.
Visited around 11am on a Friday. Had a lot if staff on site with minimal customer traffic but the trash was still full and the water dispenser nearly empty. Not the experience we hoped for.

This is the best donut shop in DC. Taste and presentation, both are great!

I ordered the dark roast coffee and butter cream doughnut. Enjoyed the coffee more than I thought. It's a nice place to grab a quick dessert. Doughnuts are around $3 each. The doughnut was good, light and airy. The lady behind the counter is very warm and welcoming. It's infectious. :)

Wonderful donuts within minutes of Capitol Hill. Everything is fresh and made with care. The strawberry frosting tastes like an actual strawberry, not the bizarre love child of a pop tart and cheap cake frosting one finds at a big chain donut place.

Fun one-time experience for the flavors and sleek interior but the prices are steep. At least they spell "doughnut" properly

Hi Dad, Maine

I should have tried this before trying sugar shack, because it wasn't awesome, and that's being nice. Donuts were tough, and slightly flavorless. They messed up and gave me cold brews instead of cocoa, which is fine, but when I did get my cocoa, it was nasty. We couldn't drink it, and threw it away. I paid $45 for 6 Donuts, 2 cocoas, 3 chocolate milks, and a 20% tip...WAY more than my sugar shack experience (And I got 12 donuts.) Do yourself a favor and go to the other place!
