Animas Chocolate & Coffee Company

Honestly, this is one of my favorite places to stop in every time I am in Durango. They have very unique and delicately crafted coffee and hot chocolate concoctions, that will keep your tastebuds craving more. You also get to see the truffles being made in the back. All in all this is an experience rather than a store, unfortunately the truffles are overpriced in my opinion which is why this is getting 4 stars instead of 5.

Best chocolate ever! The owners were very nice and explained everything! The liquid chocolate was phenomenal! You can even see how they make the truffles!

We were visiting from Texas, browsing Main st. And we came across this shop! So glad we went in, we voted for our favorite gingerbread house! They were unique as well. Nikki was so amazing she gave us a Truffle tour. We chose the box of 9 picked out the ones we wanted & they were so good!! We also ordered hot cocoas and they were delicious! Also purchased a stocking stuffer! Plenty of seating available inside.

They are so friendly and lovely people. I will come again tomorrow. The chocolate and coffee are so good. Come back with the choc box, you will get one choc for free.

Absolutely loved this place! Not sure if he was the owner but he was very welcoming and knowledgable. Gave us a sample cup of their hot chocolate and I have to say it was so rich and chocolaty. So yummy! The hot chocolate is definitely worth stopping in for. This Is a cute little shop, reminded me of a comfy little malt shop, complete with stools at the counter, tables and a section with couches so you can relax and enjoy the yummy hot chocolate or other chocolate treats that they sell. Their truffles are almost too beautiful to eat...ALMOST! 😁 They have a good selection of chocolate treats including chocolate crumbs mixed with toffee or Chile (they have other mixes) to sprinkle over your ice cream. We had to buy a bag of what they call smelter which is basically scraps of all their different chocolates in a bag (dark, milk and white). I can't wait to make hot chocolate from it or sprinkle some in my coffee. I recommend stopping here while in Durango Colorado, you will NOT be disappointed plus we got excellent customer service. This place is the best. They have such a wonderful variety of chocolatey things! It's a cute shop on the inside with great decor... it's fun to look at everything while having a some chocolates. Lots of seating- cool tables and comfy couches. They have a great hot chocolate menu- so many interesting and tasty drinks to try. Today we went in to get chocolate bars and also got some chocolate covered potato chips! All their things are packaged beautifully. Their display case of truffles is a wonder. The chocolates are almost too pretty to eat. Customer service is really top notch as well. Can't say enough good things! Such a gem.

Stopped in and picked up some souvenirs for our family. While there, Kyle offered us a sample of their delicious hot chocolate and made us feel right at home. He is a true asset to your establishment. One of the things we purchased were the chocolate bars with toffee. They melt in your mouth. Lots of yummy things to choose from, you won’t be disappointed.

Really fun place, renovated to have the old age appearance, especially the roof! Has a very modern feel to it, lots of space with bold statement of chocolates, goodness, and anything in between. Our personal favorite, the chocolate dipped potato chips, you will not go wrong with a quick visit to this shop. Highly recommend the half price rack, with chocolate they need to get rid of, bargain prices!

Objectively better than just a coffee shop, since chocolate also has caffeine. Basically, all their espresso bevies will have more of that sweet, sweet caffeine than others around town.

Best coffee in town! Attitudes are a little posh and I’ve never been to a coffee shop that wouldn’t let me order a side of whip cream, but if you want coffee that tastes great, you won’t be disappointed!
