Brother and I arrived early for our dinner reservation we waited in the Sanctuary for our family to arrrived. Coctail menu was fun so we ordered a couple of mixed drinks while we waited in a calm , comfortable, pleasant setting till they came to inform us that our party had arrived. Denise, Q, and staff were very pleasant , prompt and attentive. Enjoyed choosing from an unusual menu (for the SLV) so happy to broaden our eating horizons. Thank You so much for making our birthday celebration such a pleasant experience. We all enjoyed our food and drink selections at reasonable prices, portions ,prompt and friendly staff 😀. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND !

We came from denver to try this place out cause it got a james beard mention. The place was really cute. But the food was average at best. I was expecting a little more. The french onion soup was a little overpowering, and the fettuccine was a little bland. The lasagna might have been good, but the sauce was very tart. If you are coming here for exceptional food, this is probably not the place, but if you're just super hungry and looking for a neat spot, it will probably due just fine.

Very beautiful setting in an old Adobe church. Service was very good. Prices were on the expensive side, but honestly was very reasonable when considering this is the only fine dining in Alamosa. For dinner expect to spend $20-30 a person. Food was good, nothing to complain about really. Disappointed tho that for the price, they do not make their own pasta. I had the brisket, veg, and Farro dish. And while this is among the best food I've had in the Valley, when I compare it to all the places I've eaten (and I grew up in NYC area) this would land at probably 3 stars, good but averagely mediocre. But when I consider the SLV area, this is a 5 star place. So I gave the food a 4 star review, everything else a 5.

This is my first restaurant review. I felt compelled after noticing a deliberately misleading menu item.
First I’ll say that the bread rolls and service are excellent.
The issue was the “leg of lamb risotto” dish, for $21. I visited the restaurant for this dish. I was asked if “lamb shredded off the bone, with no bone present” would be okay. I complied. I regretted.
I received a few diced lamb chunks that were clearly not shredded meat from a bone. There was no risotto. There was soggy quinoa, something resembling spaghetti sauce on the side, and steamed veggies thrown in. It was like a health bowl i’d buy at a street side cafe for $10.
Going back to the menu I saw “risotto” has quotations on it. Very sneaky. There should be quotations around “leg of lamb” because that’s clearly not present in this $21 dish. I’m surprised the owners would assume their customers wouldn’t know the difference. If they continue to sell it, they should call it something realistic out of respect for their customers’ food intelligence, and not use quotes to create misleading dish names.

Outstanding! The barista made two cafe borgia for us - best we’ve had. Lunch was delicious - melt in your mouth meals. Great food, beautiful setting, and friendly staff. A gem! Can’t wait to go back.

Driving around it was hard to find this place. Good thing google maps helped with this. Tommy was our waiter and he was fantastic. Very attentive to our needs. I love the atmosphere, very unique with converting a old church to a restaurant. I had Chicken Fettuccine for dinner and a Salted Caramel italian ice cream. Everything was delicious. We definitely enjoyed our meal and will return next year when we will be back in town.

We spent a quiet evening in the Sanctuary while traveling through Alamosa. The charcuterie board for two and it was delicious and easily the most generous I have even ordered. The Sanctuary section of the restaurant is really cool. Stop in for a cocktail, you won't be disappointed.

Will never eat here again. Fountain drink was supposed to be included in our meal and they charged us separately. Food tasted very bland. Servers rushed us to finish our food and get out. Customer service was absolutely the worst. Save your money it is definitely not worth the disappointment.

We read about Friar's Fork and Sanctuary in the "Denver Post" and made reservations for when we were in Alamosa to view the Sandhill Cranes. The evening was perfect--- the food, service, and the way the owners have honored this historic Episcopal church. What a beautiful venue. All of our entrees were delicious. I had the Holy Trinity--fettuccine, chicken parmesan, and ravioli. My husband loved the chicken marsala, and the four of us liked sharing a salad and bread, which are included with the meal. Finally, the prices are reasonable. We wish you were in Fort Collins!

The brisket was so salty that it was inedible. The lamb was mediocre and the chicken Marsala tasted more like an Alfredo. We came in with high expectations, prepared to recommend this place to all of our local friends, but unfortunately we were extremely disappointed and will not return. I very rarely write reviews but felt compelled to write this one because I was so extraordinarily disappointed.
