One of my favorite, comfy hangouts! Absolutely. Two issues take it down to 4 stars. The garden is fantastic until some chuckleheads decide it's a nice place for a conference call for work, or a bunch of coeds think they need to share their feelings with all the tables. And the lunch items are usually too organic, vegan froo-froo for me to eat there. Great light breakfast though!

Wow. The new owners fired most of their staff and people also quit. Time to find another coffee place. Don’t go here!!!!

Love coming here! Nice calm atmosphere and lots of vegan and gluten free options. I got the waffle with fruit and the ginger chai latte; it was absolutely delicious!

Friends and I would drive from the central valley to have coffee here in the 80's when the Kona blend at Lyon's was about the best you could get. So, I have been a fan for 30+ years. Though the chains try, you cannot create true ambiance in a boardroom/meeting room.

I used to study here when I attended Cal Poly the 80s and little has changed since. The lovely outdoor garden is a gem in the middle overly-paved downtown SLO and offers a quiet alternative to the bustling interior. Coffee and baked goods are typical cafe fare with eggs and other simple breakfasts. Their muffins are homemade, vary daily, and are a nice change from the overly sweet & cakey institutional muffins. I enjoy the espresso eggs for a health and affordable breakfast. They have a delicious selection of homemade cookies. Live music and other events fill most eveningsm

Great coffee time with friends. Really friendly personnel, and tasty stuff.

Sat in outside back patio, with a tasty bowl of hot oatmeal with steamed milk and an excellent coffee. Patio is beautifully surrounded by ivy walls and very quiet except for the chirping birds and the water trickling into the fish pond, which often captured my attention and caused me to stare blank-faced into the dark water. Ah yes, so good.

I don't get this place? I will say it has a nice atmosphere, decent food, and average coffee. All of those together I could probably recommend this place. BUT, negative points for customer service...just terrible! I have been here numerous times because people I know like this place, and to no exaggeration, every time I have witnessed a near complete lack of caring by the employees. Today was the worst. Ordered a regular coffee. Noticed all of the self serve coffee was empty. Told the baristas. Twice. Meanwhile, one of the two baristas is pulled out back and is being talked to by the owner/manager, while one up front is being swamped with orders. What kind of example is that?? Ended up waiting over 20 minutes for a new batch to brew! Luckily I had a flexible schedule and could wait it out. Oh, and they have a $5 minimum for credit card purchases, which is posted nowhere. This place could be awesome, if only the customer service wasn't horrid.

The best coffee and cookies in town. The carrot cake is always baked fresh and it's delicious. There is usually something going on in the back like bands, poetry or talks. The art work on the walls is for sale and is rotated so something new every time you visit.

Enjoyed a delicious vegan strawberry matcha muffin, but the coffee was lukewarm. Nice staff and ambiance.
