Brunch menu doesn't have many choices. Our empanadas was bland with a super oily and flavorless chimichurie, the benedict was served with overcooked eggs. Very disappointed.
First time here and OMG!! Sooo good. I will definitely be coming back. Great customer service and the food came out so quick but was delicious. The experience was awesome! 😌
Great view, but a little too loud for my taste, very busy place, wasn't super impressed with the food either. Not saying it was bad, and I don't think it needs specific improvements, just not the right place for conversation and enjoying food. It's more about the lovely crowd and drinks, so if that's your thing, go for it.
Even with a brunch reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes before being able to check in. There wasn't any clear queue for people with reservations vs those without. Although our party was there for the first seating of the day, I was told they were "out of bloody maria mix and aqua fresca" when trying to order drinks rather than there would be a delay for those drinks. When I observed those seated near us being served the drinks we had tried unsuccessfully to order, we were able to get the desired drinks. The experience left me feeling our server was unhelpful and insincere. The food was good overall, but not outstanding. The view is fun. Not sure I would make an effort to return.
Delicious Pina Colada, tasty chips and guacamole and wonderful views of the city! Make sure to make a reservation for brunch and be ready to climb five flights of stairs but it’s worth the experience you will have.
If you are looking for a great rooftop bar, look no further. With gorgeous views of the city, a friendly staff, great drinks and fantastic vibes -- El Techo is a gem. The plates are small, but fantastic. I highly recommend the sangria pitcher, empanadas and their mango bowl! Word to the wise: get there early because the place fills up fast.
The drinks here were good but I was so disappointed in the food, I honestly couldn’t even give this a three star review. I ordered the Camarones a la Diabla for $26 and was shocked at the minuscule portion of food that came out. On a large empty plate, they served a single skewer of shrimp with a 2 inch by two inch circle of rice with a small bowl of poorly cooked beans 1/4 shallow in the bowl. For $26 this was truly laughable and a clear indicator that the bar is sucking major profit margins on an overly crowded and underserved rooftop. Very disappointing.
Can you guys please open one of these in NYC? I loved chillin' on the rooftop overlooking the city with a marg and a basket of chips and guac. I just wish SF wasn't always freezing! I thought they did a pretty good job of keeping the roof warm, though. They had a number of heaters and covered a majority of the dining area with plastic. That said, I would much rather experience it open-air style on a warm summer night ...on the East Coast!
Anyway, it's a great spot. I hear it gets pretty crowded, but I imagine if you get there early you shouldn't have a problem. I was there on a Monday around 5pm (which is right smack in the middle of happy hour), and 3/4 of the tables were still available.
My uncle and I shared the chips & guac, mango, carnitas, sweet potato flan, hot chocolate with cookies, a few margaritas and a piña colada. Drinks were awesome, guac was delicious, and carnitas were pretty good. We didn't care much for the desserts - the flan was too heavy (we didn't dig the sweet potato; made it too dense), and the alfajores-style cookies that came with the hot chocolate were too dry. The hot chocolate was yummy, though.
Overall we really enjoyed it and look forward to coming back!
Food was really good. Must try their plantains and their pork shoulder plate! Also their lemonade is freshly squeezed!! I only didn't give it 5 stars because the atmosphere was a bit loud and crowded and the man taking reservations at the bottom was also quite rude to me and my friends, which didn't set a very nice tone to the visit at first. Otherwise, it is a great rooftop place with a nice view of San Francisco!

Pretty good. Went for Saturday brunch. Food was tasty. Very good sangria at a reasonable price. You also get a view. Worth a visit.
